Just follow the wiring diagram. Fortin gives you access to via a website and code that comes in the box . In my case 2011 ford Edge no splicing, only T harness used. You need the Fortin flash link uploader to make it all work, and yes you do need 2 keys to program. keep in mind if you don't buy a RF kit you only get as much range as you normally do with your factory remote. I installed remote started professionally back in the day when they first came around you had to connect every wire and had to take most of the interior apart, had to cut open factory harnesses and run wires through the firewall it was a pain and took hours. This product streamlines all that with their T harness and smart EVO-ALL I recommend.

I'm very disappointed. I bought a remote starter for a Ford and confirmed with the seller before shipping that I needed firmware for my car. The product took almost a month to arrive, although it was stated to take just over a week. After installation, the unit wouldn't read any keys. I checked the power from the immobilizer to the unit, and everything was working. I had to buy a Flashlink for $70. I connected the unit to the computer and saw that it was programmed for an Infiniti. After changing the firmware to my car, the unit still wouldn't detect the keys. I tried linking keys separately via Flashlink, but it didn't work. It's possible the unit was used and came from a different car. I filed a return, but paid an additional $27 for shipping. I submitted a request to Amazon for a refund for the shipping costs because I wasted a lot of time. Amazon approved the return, but the seller only refunded the cost of the item. I don't recommend this seller.

Install was not too bad. The instructions weren’t the clearest so I missed a wire hookup. Once I got that I went to use their decryption and it wouldn’t decrypt the first time. I had to run the decryption process a few times before it completed successfully. Finally after that I still couldn’t get the car to remote start with the factory key fob and discovered that I need to change a setting in the flash link updater to get the remote start working. The 3X lock press is not enabled by default so when I flashed the Evo for the car it took me some time to figure out I needed to enable that and reflash. Finally about 2 hours later it works and works well even though I could have installed it in about 20 mins with clearer instructions and a better functioning decryption software. Tech support via phone was non-existent as I called during office hours stated for Tech Support and the machine said they were closed. Luckily I was able to find info on their support forums an answers to questions that I had which had already been asked.
