Compact, good key travel (touch) and backlight works well.
The "s" and "g" on may M1 MacBook Pro quite responding and before I could get it to Apple I spilled some liquid on it which met it wouldn't qualify for warranty. I tried the Macally full size USB keyboard I had for my Mac Mini but it was too cumbersome, the key travel is too long and it lacked backlighting. The SATECHI is compact and the key travel is very close to the same as the MacBook Pro and the backlighting works well.I purchase the SATECHI mouse at the same time. The mouse connector is quite a bit longer than the keyboard connector and doesn't fit as snuggly in the port. (see image) The mouse works OK but I prefer the feel and responsiveness of my Microsoft mini laser mouse. The cables for both the mouse and keyboard are pretty stiff which means they don't lay flat and look a messy on the desk.

BETTER THAN EXPECTED
I felt compelled to write a review because of the lower than deserved overall rating of this Keyboard. My Mac Pro's original keyboard's space-bar key finally gave out after 12 years of use, so at first I bought an exact generic duplicate of it (with all those extra keys on the right.) After I noticed that the replacement keyboard's keys were not nearly as quiet as the Mac original, and my wife already said that I typed too loud on the much quieter one, and not wanting to spend $100+ dollars on an "official" Mac keyboard, I returned the second keyboard last week and got this one instead, without all those extra keys on the right that I never used anyway.First of all, this Keyboard is definitely just as quite as a Mac Keyboard. Secondly, not having those unused, and unnecessary additional keys on the right gives me a lot more space for my Mouse. Thirdly, White-On-Black Keys (instead of the traditional Black-On White keys) are already much easier to see. Adding backlighting to this only makes it better. Fourthly, having it wired is much better too, as otherwise it would have to be charged every 10 days, in addition to my wireless mouse, which only needs to be charged about every two months. It is true that the backlighting floods a bit around the keys, so if the designers are reading this, it would be perfect if the tiny LED lights behind each key were only shinning directly behind the lettering. (I just turn the brightness setting down by one.) Nevertheless, the 3.5 star rating is way too low. I would give it a 4.5By the way, if you need a standard USB input, instead of the "USB-C" that the Keyboard comes with, this adapter works well ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B085VT1VJT ) .

Caps Lock Key Light Died After 5 Months--but manufacturer made it right!
I really liked this wired keyboard. It was the perfect size for my desk space and worked perfectly with my MacBook Pro for the five months I've had it--until yesterday when the caps lock key light stopped working. The return window has expired on this $60.00 purchase, so I can't return it. I'd rate this 5 stars if not for this failure. EDIT: This is my bad for not noticing at the onset that this keyboard comes with a 1-year Manufacturer's Warranty. So, what happened was, after the manufacturer read my review here about the caps lock key light dying, they reached out to me and sent me a brand-new replacement because I was still within their 1-year warranty period! Because of this excellent customer service and item replacement, plus the fact that I like this keyboard so much, I am changing my rating on it from 2-stars to 5.

Update: Total junk keyboard, buyer beware you will be dissappointed
Had this keyboard that seems to be well built but is total junk to say the least. 4 months after owning it the delete and enter keys stopped working. I contacted satechi and they promptly replaced it. Well, 3 months after receiving the new one it did the exact same thing with the same 2 keys. The keyboard is well built on the outside and complete junk on the inside. I will never purchase a satechi product again. If you buy one be prepared to be without a keyboard while you wait for a new one to arrive, then after 3-4 months rinse and repeat.

Not worth its price.
1: For whatever reason the backlight just turns on randomly in the middle of the night even if it was turned off manually prior, also backlight settings don’t get saved, apparently this keyboard doesn’t store the settings internally or resets our of the blue.2: If you’re looking for a substitute for a magic keyboard this is just not it. Despite being made of aluminum it still feels flimsy and wobbly as you would expect a $15 knock-off to feel, except this is $60.Returning it.

High-quality, Apple compatible backlit kkeyboard except for ONE HHUGE DEEFECTT!!
I received a replacement and that unit suffers the same problem with improper de-bounce. so you get lots of duplicated key-presses. A google search reveals a Macworld article titled "Satechi Aluminum Bluetooth Keyboard with Numeric Keypad review: A good Magic Keyboard alternative" Quote: //Keystrokes would sometimes repeat, making typing all but impossible. I found I could eradicate those issues on a PC if I kept it plugged in, but I had no such luck on a Mac. And at any rate, keeping a Bluetooth keyboard plugged in kind of defeats the point of a Bluetooth keyboard.//I HAVE THE WIRED W1 VERSIONIT"S IMPOSSIBLE TO USE BECAUSE OF KEY PRESS DUPLICATION .I contacted Satechi support and they replied that this device is only compatible with a 2018 or later Mac thunderbolt port, and I didn't read the fine print carefully. Yet Satechi offers a type-C to type-A adapter!According to Satehchi, it's completely reasonable to require committing a 20 gigabit/s I/O port to a 5 bit/s keyboard and my-bad for misunderstanding how this technology works. Also, USB3 is not backwards compatible with previous USB, except when Satechi sells the converter? For fun, I tried it connecting these devices a to a PC type-C USB port and it caused an over-current condition and shut the port down.I am sending the original back to Amazon in exchange for this replacement, and I'm throwing the replacement in the trash and eating the $60 cost.Live and learn.* * *(This is typed on a Satechi Slim W1)Problem with inadequate de-bounce means lots of dupllicate characters. How cann the problem of de-bounce still not bee be solved!! Did I inntend to type these dups? Or is the keyboard adding them on itss own?Too bad because the kkeybooard iss very good ootherwise.Excellent mmaterials and quality feel.Apple layout with helpful labelling of alt/opt key for Windows part time usse.Stable feet are properly grippy.Backlight is excelllent. Note that the backlight adjustment keys are in the Apple standard location but do not inntegrate with the Apple keyboard driver. The backlight adjustment is handled internally in 4 appropriately spaced steps. BBut this also meanns that 'fn' kkey functionnality is not Apple compatible. These are minor compprommisses.Too bad about debounce nnot working properly. This is an literally an '80s PC problem!

Nicely sized wired keyboard with sensitive keys
I generally like this keyboard for its size and weight (it's sturdy enough, but not as sturdy as an Apple keyboard). In my pics you can see it's fairly thin and it features backlighting, if you want that (you can turn it off).I prefer a wired keyboard due to better response time and avoiding connection or battery issues, so I got this one. Overall I'm OK with it, but the keys are a bit too sensitive and have weak spring stiffness to them. During rapid typing, you can easily overtype a key and I find myself frequently hitting delete to edit typing errors that don't happen on my Apple keyboard at home. For this review I'm using my Apple keyboard and I've managed to avoid having to delete extra letters. If I was using the Satechi keyboard, I would've had to hit delete maybe 10 times by now. It can get annoying, but it's not a complete make or break sort of thing. After 7 months of use, my keyboard has a little fading on heavy use keys, but it's not glaring and you can't really tell in my pics. I like that the keys are black so I can avoid the nasty dirtied up look white keyboards easily get.

Perfect
I have an official Apple wired mac keyboard as well as a wired Macally USBC keyboard. This keyboard replaced them both. It is high quality, feels great to type on, and is compact enough that I can pack it on the go when traveling for work. It's perfect for my needs. I did not notice any quality issue.
