Is there a filtration difference between the black and the yellow filters?

Get a Fram PH3614 or Purolator L10241 filter. Quality USA made filters for half the price of these imports. Have used them on all my engines for years without a problem.

Is this filter compatable with Fram PH8170?

Yes! Or save some money and buy a Fram PH3614, it's about an inch taller, $4 at your local farm store or big box store. Purolator L10241 is also an option, been using theses filters for 20 years without a problem. Made in the USA!
