SmallRig Mini V Mount Battery Plate, V-Lock Mount Battery Plate with 1/4"-20 Threads - 2987

This mount is well built, sturdy, comes in at a competitive price, and of course makes changing V-Mount batteries as easy as it should be. It clamps onto my BMPCC rig’s rails with an adaptor, and is a great way to keep a heavy battery in its place. I’d recommend this.

Perfect fit for my Small rig VB99pro and my FX3 rig. Exactly what I needed.

It works as stated.

I needed a small V Mount for a battery to be located on the bottom of my BMPCC4K camera cage. The battery could be mounted in that location by means of its own removable plastic interface but I wanted something that was a bit more secure. Since the battery had a V-Mount interface I decided to go for this SmallRig Mini V Mount Battery Plate. My only concern with this purchase was that my camera cage would allow me to secure the battery plate by using the two provided screws in only one of the slots. I wondered if the plate would be secure enough to handle the battery weight. Not a problem. Once the two screws were tightened the plate was rigid and showed no flexing with the battery attached. I am using the CORE Edge battery.

I wish SmallRig made a custom designed v-mount plate for the Sound Devices MixPre series of audio recorders, particularly the 10, which basically requires external power. The two smaller units in the MixPre line can be powered off a USB battery bank, but the 10 requires a HiRose source, meaning a v-mount battery with D-tap outlet. This battery plate is high quality we expect from SmallRig, but the fit is less than optimal. For one thing, it does not mount centered on the MixPre's built-in 1/2-20 attachment point. The bigger problem is clearance to operate the battery release trigger. Once the battery is mounted, there is almost no room for a finger between the battery and the MixPre body. A longer release trigger lever would solve this problem.

I needed something for my gimbal to mount a mini V Mount, like the bare minimum in size and weight, there are other solutions, but they can be fiddly to mount, while this almost seems perfectly designed (depending on your rig), it can go on cheese plates, it can go on cages, thanks to the mounting ducts on the top and bottom, you'll be hard pressed to find a place you can't mount it. Most importantly it's a sturdy fit, even big bulky batteries sit on there with little to no play, it's not 100%, but considering it's not docking into battery terminals as designed, it's very impressive, 97% I'd say. I'm fussy about things like that, and I'm cool with it.PS: If you're lucky enough to have the GDU Ghost Plate for the Komodo, this fits like a dream.
