Q: Is the mascara supposed to have a thick, creamy texture? I can't tell if the one I bought is old or if it's supposed to be like that.

Mine is dried up. barely any moisture. I will not buy this again My sister had the same experience .

Q: How do you open the mascara bottle?

Twist open the small cap and insert the mascara wand. The wand becomes the new lid. This is also a twist.

Q: Does this mascara smudge or flake (not the waterproof)?

The mascara holds up pretty well throughout the day BUT towards the evening (maybe after 10+ hrs) it does start to flake. If you sleep with the mascara on it will flake and smudge so just wash off before climbing in bed.
