Is the black area surrounding the enclosure made of rubber or is it plastic? Whats the material of that black part?

This is made from rubber. There is a plastic shell inside of the rubber that the drive sits in. The rubber fits around it for protection.

will it fit a 15mm thick Seagate Barracuda 2.5 hard drive or just the smaller 7mm drives?

No, just the thinner 2.5” drives.

Is C2580c compatible with Thunderbolt 3 port?

Yes Thunderbolt 3 supports USB 3.1 gen 2. However, it will only run at USB 3.1 gen 2 (10Gb/s), not at Thunderbolt 3 (32Gb/s) speeds though.

Sturdy drive case

Installed a spare 1TB SSD and all is good. Using it for file transfers between Mac's & PCs. Nice build quality and having the permanent USB-C cable attached is a useful touch. Having purchased a number of cheaper drive cases with mixed results, I can say it's worthwhile to spend a little bit more on the Ineo.
