Turf Builder Triple Action Built For Seeding - Weed Preventer and Fertilizer for New Lawns, 1,000 sq. ft., 4.3 lbs.

I’ve been using Scotts Turf Builder Triple Action Built for Seeding on my new lawn, and I’m really impressed with how well it works. This product is a game-changer for anyone trying to establish a healthy, beautiful lawn from scratch. It combines three important functions into one seed, weed prevention, and fertilization, which is incredibly convenient. The application process was super easy. I used a spreader to cover my lawn, and it went down evenly with no issues. After a couple of weeks, I started to notice new grass growing in the bare spots, and the weeds that had been creeping in were effectively kept at bay. It’s great not having to worry about multiple products or treatments; this one does it all in one go. I’ve noticed that the grass is not only growing well but also looking greener and healthier. The fertilizer in the product gives it a solid boost, promoting strong root development and helping the grass thrive. This is especially important for new lawns, and I can already see the difference. As for the size, the 17.2 lbs bag covered the recommended 4,000 sq. ft., which was perfect for my yard. It’s worth noting that you do need to water the lawn after applying this, and I’ve been consistent with that to get the best results. The product didn’t cause any burn spots, which can sometimes happen with fertilizers, so that’s a relief. The only thing to keep in mind is that it’s important to apply it at the right time of year, preferably in the early spring or fall, so you get the most out of the weed prevention aspect. I’ve used other fertilizers before, but this one seems to be more comprehensive and effective in promoting new growth and keeping weeds away. Overall, I’d highly recommend this product if you’re working on a new lawn or even just want to improve your existing one. It saves time and effort by combining three essential lawn care tasks into one step, and the results speak for themselves.

First picture is day one (11-1-2024) when I planted grass seeds and put down the fertilizer built for seeds. All dirt, no growth as you can see. Second picture is about 5-6 days later. The grass is starting to sprout. Third picture is today (11-9-24) only 8 days after planting the seeds and the grass is growing very well. I would say 80% of the growth is from the fertilizer. Another 10% of growth is from putting seed cover (top soil) on top of the seeds to: 1. keep the birds from eating the seeds; 2. helps the seeds grow a little faster; 3. helps the soil maintain moisture. The last 10% of growth is from watering the grass (3) times per day. The seeds need to be maintained in moisture for as long as possible so they can sprout. I planted the same seeds in my front yard, but I didn't use the fertilizer made for seeds, and I think it took a while longer to grow. I will definitely buy more of the Scotts triple action built for seeds fertilizer whenever I need to start another grass project from scratch. I'm very happy with the results. One thing: don't put down too much fertilizer or it will burn the grass. I went back and put down more fertilizer where I thought it needed more, and in those spots the grass is turning white instead of green. It's still growing, but not as fast as in the other areas. Great product!!!

I had to start my lawn over from scratch bc the previous homeowners let crabgrass take over. After ensuring the crabgrass was dead last year, I knew it was time to reseed. The seed I used was Pennington’s Kentucky 31 and it was slow to germinate at first so after about 8 days I spread this fertilizer over it and within 48hrs I saw germination. I followed all instructions for the spreader but somehow I think it malfunctioned and spread unevenly across my lawn because it is VERY obvious where the product is and where it didn’t reach. You can even see the path I walked with my spreader based on what the grass looks like. At first the seed in that area came up kind of whitish purple (I was worried that I had burned/destroyed it) but now it’s about 4 weeks into growth and the grass is thicker, darker and taller in the areas where my spreader clearly passed this product through. Overall, I think I’d recommend this product to help jumpstart your seed, but make sure whatever spreader you use is affective and that you spread the product evenly or you’ll end up with a silly looking striped lawn like mine kind of is right now!

This stuff is fabulous 👌 I used it to restore lawn after Weed and Feed burnt it out. I did reseed and then used this fertilizer. (Spread the seed then the fertilizer right after) I didn't even water it as much as I probably should have for the first week but we were really blessed that all the spots filled in and it's most beautiful. One huge plus for this is the quality of the fertilizer-- no burning, gentle for seeds, and not the weed boost like most, and it seems to have inhibited much of the tangleweed morning glories to just a very few in the spot that had been completely choked out by morning glories. However, I do wish there was a bigger bag and a better price on both sizes -- it's really quite pricey for the amount you get.

Scotts is my preferred brand and sometimes I order through Amazon rather than a local store because of availability or sale. I prefer Scotts over other brands because of the high quality: it does the best job for the best cost. It's great at nourishing the yard to a beautiful green. It builds strong turf that keeps the yard softer and safer for our feet. Who doesn't love to be grounded, going barefoot in a lush lawn? It works when properly applied.
