When the lid is flipped over to be used as a tray, how does it stay in place so it doesnt slip off/around?

You don't flip the whole lid over, you just flip the edge. There is an elastic strip around it so that you can flip it back and forth. Just leave it zipped up.

How insulated is the cooler? Will it keep things cold for an 8 hour trip?

I've not used it like you describe, I would assume not. The walls are thin - we use one similar in trunk for getting cold items home from grocery store. But, if you have kids it's great for storage and it has sturdy cup holders.

How many dividers does this come with? My backseat organizer only came with one but the picture within the listing on Amazon shows two.

Hi, and thanks very much for your question. The Kid's Backseat Organizer comes with a single panel that can be moved forward or back in the inside of the cooler compartment. The photo looking down into the organizer shows the single panel. Hope this is helpful. Kim, High Road Organizers

Does the cooler leak or get wet on the outside which could make the seat wet ?

The cooler leaked on the first use and wet our entire back seat!
