DEWALT DCST922B 20V MAX Lithium-Ion Cordless 14 in. Folding String Trimmer (Tool Only) (5 Ah)

I love this weed eater. I’m coming from a craftsman 60 volt that i also loved but the battery took a crap and they are no longer made. Before purchasing the dewalt i bought a Greenworks 17” 40 volt that came with an 8ah battery. I bought the Greenworks specifically because it was the only cordless electric steering trimmer i could find that used 0.105” line. 0.080” and 0.095” line just don’t cut it in my yard, pun intended. I have a little over a half acre and it gets overran with mustard plant in the spring. I liked the Greenworks however the one i received had a terrible vibration to it and the fact it was $320 was enough for me to turn it. I was going to buy the dewalt 60 volt string trimmer that was attachment capable for the same price as the Greenworks until i saw a review for this 20 volt that confirmed for me that the head would in fact accept 0.105” and this one is half the price and i already have a ton of 20 volt and flex volt dewalt batteries. So this one was delivered today, one day earlier than expected and i opened it up the second i got home from work. Right off the bat i could tell this dewalt string trimmer is build better than the green works. The plastics are off a higher quality and the handle has a nice rubberized grip. My only gripe with this weed eater is the guard is pretty small. It didn’t seem like i was getting hit with too much more than the others but it was more. Now for the fun part. This weed eater is advertised as a 14”. That doesn’t really work for me so i remade the cutter for the string with an additional 1” offset out of some stainless steel sheet metal i had laying around. Now the cutting swath is a little over 16” and with 0.105” line the trimmer has no problem keeping up with my 60 volt craftsman or the 40 volt Greenworks. I’ve also used a friends 80 volt greenworks and i would choose this dewalt over it as well. Half the price and every bit as good performance. I’m stoked to say the least. And with a 9ah/3ah flex volt battery i trimmed my front yard and the battery still shows full bars. None of the other trimmers I’ve mentioned could do that. With or without a little customization this 20 volt Max string trimmer really is a gem. I’m so glad i gave it a shot.

Received a return from someone else and lost the battery

I am very happy with this weed whacker :-) For years I've made do with cheapo plug-in weed whackers picked up at yard sales and hey, they've done the job ok. Now I needed one i could take further than a cable would reach so bought one of these and now am wishing I'd got one years ago ! This thing is a "weed terminator", it goes through just about everything. It has munched through brambles, even small maple branches. Super easy to use. I've been using a pair of 5Ah batteries with it, I'm generally having to swap the first one out if it is more than a quick job, but haven't gone through both of them yet. Downsides - It is a little on the heavy side, but it is pretty solid. I switch holding it from one side to the other intermittently. It isn't so heavy that I'm forced to take a break though. I will probably try and rig up a shoulder sling to take some of the weight. With brambles and vines, it will sometimes get them wrapped around just above the cutting head which makes it halt. It is easy though to turn it upside down and pull them off. Tip - it comes pre-loaded with cord, but not much of it. If you like it on the first use I'd suggest buying/ordering more cord straight away. Overall, I am very happy with this tool and very impressed with what it can do. I would recommend this.

El sistema que tiene para poner nuevo cable de corte es muy simple, solo se alinean dos marcas en la base de la podadora y se hace pasar el cable, se deja la misma distancia de los dos lados y se comienza a girar la perilla en el sentido de las manecillas del reloj y solo se va enrollando. La cortadora de pasto viene con una línea de 6 m ya instalada, por lo que la puedes usar inmediatamente. En el primer uso se siente bastante bien, sin problemas para cortar el pasto, tiene dos velocidades.
