For $200 monitors, why is the cable proprietary and not even balanced?

Having used both types of connectors extensively on past products, our internal data strongly shows that our proprietary 2mm connector is more reliable than MMCX in the long run (partly because it is not allowed to rotate in the socket), so as much as we would like to keep our products compatible with the wide range of accessories available for the MMCX standard, we decided to move away from MMCX for our PRO-series products where the focus is always on longevity and durability. The included stereo cable is not balanced because in-ear monitor transmitters, personal monitor mixers, and other equipment into which professional monitors are usually plugged in do not support balanced audio. Our older M7 PRO model, which uses MMCX connectors, is still available on our website, as are our Pinnacle series in-ears. We have an MMCX balanced cable available for those as well.

I'm a beginner wanting to start mixing in a small home studio. are the mx1's good for this, or should i save for a more expensive model?

Accepted Answer

The MX1 Pro is a great start as a studio mixing IEM. The MX1’s sound profile is pretty much neutral, which is perfect when mixing. The great thing about our MX Pro line, is that you can upgrade to a higher model in future and still use the same accessories.

Are the mx4 pros good for singers? I see lots of reviews for the Mx3’s being good for vocalists but wondering how the 4’s compare

The MX4's are designed for stage use and studio monitoring with high-fidelity reference characteristics. However, the MX3's are best for vocalists and guitarists focusing on crisp, focused midrange sound characteristics.

Question 4

Does anyone know if these are good under your motorcycle helmet, does it isolate outside noise well and give you good sound at the same time?

I would think it should work well for your needs. My wife snores VERY loudly. At bedtime, I can feel the bed vibrating as she snores, and I dont hear her at all. Pretty good should isolation. Also, I sometimes go to sleep with the earbuds still in, and they are comfortable as a lie on my side, so I would think they would fit under a helmet that's not too snug.
