The book is everything you would want. Unfortunately The actual operation of Tumblr is flawed and their help is ineffective. None of this is the books fault. One can only wish that Tumblr operated as well as the book represents it. The reader can only hope that Tumblr reads this book.

Much of what a noncommercial user wants to know how to do on tumblr is hard to find in this book --and since i bought the online kindle version from Amazon, the diagrams of the symbols (for ex figure1-3) were so tiny as to be impossible to see and didnt match where they were on tumblr for kindle or iphone. Then they would use these figures with their miniscule and baffling symbols in explaining how to make a change to your tumblr.The one positive was: It took you pretty smoothly thru the steps if you were just installing your tumblr account for the first time if you were using a PC. but as far as making simple changes on an existing account it was a labyrinth of confusion.All i wanted to know was how to change my avatar and how to change the order of the images I've posted. I finally found the first answer after much searching. The second question i still havent found. Now Im trying to get rid of an irritating "theme" and go back to "Untitled" status where i started from and i havent found out how to do that either.Much of the book is not designed for real dummies like me but for amateur web site designers --it is full of jargon --terms like CSS, domains and url that is baffling to me. I didnt find the tips that helpful either. because they referred back to the figures that are impossible to see or to the symbols that are not in the same place on my kindle.This book may be very helpful to someone who is already familiar with the tumblr language but for me I found more answers by just typing my question written in ordinary English onto my PC browser and then googling it up than what i found trying to use this book.

Everything in this slim 146 page introduction to using Tumblr can be found on the web - but you'd spend many hours finding it, separating truth from fiction and organizing it. And you'd have to deal with a variety of writing styles ranging from clear to incoherent.I needed to become familiar with Tumblr quickly and this book helped me do precisely that.Sue Jenkins writes in a clear, understandable manner. Throught eight chapters, she guides the inexperienced newcomer to Tumblr through all the functions necessary to establish and maintain a microblog. The last two chapters are not really necessary for most people. One is on modifying and discovering themes - which relatively few people do - and the last is a fast overview of ten third-party apps you can use with Tumblr.Overall, Jenkins has produced a clearly written instruction manual for using Tumblr.Worked for me.Jerry

I had heard about tumblr, but no clue about how to create my own blog. I read the book, then used it to start my own tumblr blog step by step, and that was it. The book had all the info I needed and nothing superfluous. Well done.

This book contained insufficient information to use Tumblr to its fullest potential.

I got this book out of curiosity to see and learn things about Tumblr that I didn't already know. I am a very avid blogger and this book really assisted me on some aspecs that I didn't quite understand such as Links, Audio posts, and Quotes. This book went over most of the site but lacked in one thing. Fandoms. If you are a Tumblrer then you know that a good 90% is devoted to it's many fandoms. I would've liked a bit of a "guide" to some of the major fandoms and their interworkings. Other than that it was a wonderful book and definatley worth a read.

TOO OLD TO BE ANY GOOD. While well-written, this guide is too old to be of any help this year OR LAST. Some of the screens are not even in use anymore. Price was OK - and I would recommend this book for anybody that is BRAND NEW TO TUMBLR but if you have been on Tumblr more than a month, you will already know most of this stuff, anyway.

I am somewhat prejudice here because I am a big fan of any, "For Dummies" book when I need direction. I read instructions and being new to Tumblr; this book guided me through with ease. It was short and sweet placing me in the Tumblr world of blogging many steps up from a novice.
