Great machine for personal use!
I bought it as a present for my brother and it works great! Make sure to follow instructions and you should have no problem at all in creating cotton candy. We haven't tried flossing sugar yet, but hard candy is spun almost immediately once the machine is warmed up. We also tried regular granulated white sugar, which also works but doesn't create the strands as fast. Colouring white sugar with liquid food colour works if you want coloured cotton candy, as long as you add about 10-15 drops per half cup. We also found that if you want to avoid the sugar flying off all over the bowl, turn off the machine for a few seconds so the spinner slows down, then you scoop in the sugar, before turning the power on again. That takes less than 10 seconds so the heat won't get lost. We've used this machine several times already and it still works great, plus cleanup is relatively easy as long as you wipe and soap everything down immediately.
