This is a lovely baking book lots of very interesting cakes in this one some I know from the past and some new ones in it some are what i call very bakeable because there are recipes in this book that are to my mind rather difficult to bake whilst others are easy. I cannot do any recipes with fresh fruit as I am banned by the doctors from eating any fruit p fruit turns to sugar with me but somewhat strange cake does not !!

Love this book. This is the second time I've purchased it because the first time my ex stole it! The last one I had was the old cover though.

Disappointed with outcomes
Bought this book as it was on clearance and looked attractive and interesting. We've tried 3 recipes from it and they have been absolute disasters, which reflects the book's seemingly untested recipes. The naan was brittle and crusty with hardly any flavor. The Troika cake was our next trial and it was absolutely awful - the chocolate cake was very hard and crusty, either too much cocoa or too little buttermilk, the overall taste was also completely off what we were expecting. We followed both recipes to the letter and are experienced bakers. This book is a great disappointment and we will no longer by trying any of it's recipes. They seem to be untested by the author and thrown together without much personal insight. I suppose that's what we get for buying a book on clearance.....

Did anyone really try these recipes?
Got this for the holidays. It looked like a nice collection of recipes, so I decided to try some of them. I tried the Cheesecake, Red Velvet Cake, Boston Cream Pie, Tres Leches, and Strawberry and Cream Cheesecake. I followed the recipes to the letter. The Red Velvet cake came out hard and heavy. The cheesecakes came out flat and dense, The Boston Creme shell came out 1/4" thick, so I tossed it out to the raccoons in the back yard. Admittedly I'm a novice baker, but I've had great success with other recipes for breads and cakes. I found it interesting that none of these recipes called for baking powder, baking soda, or salt, which seems to be an important ingredient for controlling the baking process as well as enhancing the overall flavor. This book will find its way to the bookcase where its likely to remain unopened.
