Yucky. I replaced with a cotton ball treated with essential peppermint oil.

I do not know the size of the plastic pods you refer to but let me try to be of some help. Inside the bag are small netted pellets that are somewhat flexible in the small netted bag to be folded or scrunched up. Not sure about the plastic pod size--sorry--hope this was somewhat helpful.
