Ecosafeter 2024 New Upgrade Memory Foam Pillow- Cervical Orthopedic Deep Sleep Neck Pillow, Prime Supportive Washable Hypoallergenic Pillow

TLDR: this pillow has two major problems:(1) It’s not memory foam(2) For those of us who sleep on our backs, it pushes the upper neck to the sky and creates a ~3” gap under the lower neck with no support. My neck was hurting after the second nightIs it memory foam? In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Tempurpedic made “memory foam” famous by successfully marketing pillows and cushions made with a new “space age” material that automatically adjusted to the shape of the human body. I know because I was there: a salesperson at a Brookstone in a mall pitched it to me, I read the marketing on the box, and I bought a back cushion. Tempurpedic’s success led competitors to bring similar memory foam products to market.The Tempurpedic memory foam was inspired by stuff astronauts developed for space shuttles (viscoelastic polyurethane foam). With the warmth and gentle pressure of a human body against a pillow or cushion, the material would melt a bit to fit the body’s shape.This Ecosafeter “Memory Foam” pillow doesn’t do that at all. It’s made of a sturdy piece of foam that instantly springs to its designed shape whenever allowed. You see that in dramatic action when you open the package: it arrives rolled up, and when you unwrap it explodes into its pillow shape. The warmth and gentle pressure of a human body resting against it has no effect on that shape.Which brings me to the second problem, for people who sleep on their backs. This pillow is quite thick. Since it doesn’t melt at all to fit the body, the big contour forces the upper neck high above the bed. That puts the neck at a couple sharp angles, and creates a ~3” triangle gap under the lower neck where the spine is not supported at all.One night on it was comfortable enough. By the end of the second night, my lower neck was really hurting, and it’s probably going to take a day or two for me to recover from sleeping on this pillow.Pushing the head and neck up at a sharp angle, out of alignment with the rest of the spine, is generally what ergonomic memory foam pillows are meant to *prevent*, not cause. The majority of people age 42 or older, who’ve had presbyopia set in, already spend too much time with the head and neck leaning forward during the day: leaning over to see something better at a kitchen counter or desk or table. At night when you sleep you don’t want to be making that worse.This pillow *might* be okay for side sleepers. I’m not a side sleeper so I don’t really know, but I rest on my side some and I tried that with this pillow. My shoulder had to be pretty far forward to fit, and for a side sleeper it might be better if the pillow was even thicker.I read 2-3 pages of reviews for this pillow that didn’t dissuade me. Here I’ve tried to write the review I wish I’d seen before clicking the add to cart button. I’ll try to return it to Amazon.

Pillows seem to be such a hit or miss but I was hopeful to like it. I got this because I was having a lot of pain in my neck in the morning; so figured I needed some extra support.First night was rough. I had it on the low side and didn’t like it. Second night I turned it around to try the higher side and loved it!! It’s been a pretty great sleep experience since then.My only 2 complaints is the pillow is firmer than most, so that’s been an adjustment to get used to. It’s not bad, just different. Also, wish there was a cut out or indentation in the pillow to make more room for the shoulders. Would be pretty close to perfect with that.All in all, I would absolutely recommend.

This pillow has a nice soft cover, it doesn't smell funny and is light-weight. I ordered this for post-surgery, having to sleep on my back for a few weeks. I am a side sleeper normally. I already have really good posture and didn't want to mess it up by sleeping with my neck out of position or twisted. I used this pillow for the past month and it is perfect! It kept my head in place and my neck aligned with my back, so no more being sore after being in a horrible hospital bed for a week. The past 2 weeks out of the month of using this, I was able to sleep on my side. This pillow also work great for that. I also find I grind my teeth less and have less jaw pain in the morning from TMJ, an extra plus!! I plan on making this my travel pillow as well now, so no matter where I go, at least I wont be out of sorts after sleeping. I highly recommend. I saw reviews of some people saying this pillow is too high for them. I am female, 5'5.5" 147 ib, medium build. I hope this helps anyone to decide if this is right for them or not :)

I really wanted this pillow to be the one, sadly it is not. I have arthritis and a disc bulge in my neck making a side sleeper concave pillow a necessity. This pillow is so hard it hurts my neck. There’s no give at all.

Good pillow, but doesn’t help with migraines unfortunately. I bought this pillow because I wake up with migraines and this pillow definitely didn’t help. 😔 Otherwise, it’s fine!

I loved the presentation and quality of the pillow ... good form, no smell, it does not feel synthetic and it is very anatomical, it stabilized the tension in my neck and shoulders so I sleep much better because I suffer from insomnia. My lower back improved from spinal discomfort. It is soft and the cover makes it very cool, which does not heat you at night and the cover is washable. Wow .. really what I needed! My visits to the orthopedist will be less. It is a pillow that adapts to me, non-deformable and good quality material. I'm going to order another for my mom !!!

I am still confused how to feel about this pillow. It made my neck and shoulder pain better but created new pain in my mid back region. The pillow is a little higher than usual pillows so maybe it is not ideal for tiny people like me. Smells nice and very breathable. Part of me likes it but part of me hopes it does not make me discover new and unexplored pains in my body. Still deciding if I want to return it. Hope I don't.
