Astromania Camera Easy Autoguiding Set50 - The Key to Successful Planetary Photos

Tried to used it about 5 times, got it focussed 3 times, haven't been able to track my mount even a single time! Calibration keeps failing - not sure if it is a mount problem (a brand new HEQ5 Pro) or the guide pulses from the camera.Pros:1. cheap2. can probably do what it is supposed to doCons:1. the dovetail is not a standard finder scope mount size and does not stay fit2. Camera is a no-name, no manufacturer cheap. But it works .... if you get it into focus (see below)3. took me 6 months to figure out the following: a) no camera drivers - apparently uses "Toupek Camera driver" on Windows and Mac. Works well with his driver. b) comes with a CD - something I have not seen in my computers in the last 5 years!!! seriously, who uses CDs anymore? No downloads online? c) bad focussing - the helical focuser is a great feature. However, there is an incredible amount of back-focus. The camera needs to be placed in with only about 1cm of it inside the scope tube. Otherwise, you can't get it to focus. Then spend about 15min playing with the focuser. - seriously takes more time to focus this (15-20min) than to setup all my other gear (10-15min) including polar alignment. This tells me that this design has no "engineering" behind it, but rather a crude put together scope. d) the focuser locking know broke in only "5" uses. not usable anymore, out of return time even though I have only used it 5 times!Lesson: you get what you pay for.

This is a very nice setup for autoguiding. I use it with PHD2 and it guides very well (select Altair 2015/2016 as the camera in PHD2). I love the helical focuser. Easy to focus. Attached is an image with this camera/guidescope of the M57 field.

Don’t waste your money you won’t be happy

Decent size and still light weight. Easy to set up and use. Works best if used a touch out of focus, gives the star a better feature for guiding
