I use it on my Tommy Bahama umbrella. Love it.

do I have to slide it on or will it clip on?

Turn the black wheel until it opens wide enough to slide into the pole. Push it up to where you want it, then carefully tightened the screw wheel being careful not to overtighten. Enjoy! I love mine!

Will this work on a cool cabana or easygo umbrella?
