Is it easy to get nook books and amazon book on the kobo? can you briefly tell me the process? thanks.

Can we read pdf on it?

Yes it will support PDF's. Not well as you have to zoom all around it but it will do in a pinch. The Aura One (7.8" screen) works much better for that purpose.

Can you change font size?

Yes. In fact the font size is far more customizable than the Kindle. There are sliders or size, line spacing, and margin width.

My son lives in new zealand and the library doesn't support kindle products for e books. they recommended the kobo. recommendations?

I have kindle and kobo I like kobo better than kindle This is my third kobo I've owned, better life on batteries. My kindle won't stay charge.
