Excellent, safe way to keep cats off of counters!
We love our cats, but sometimes, there are places they just aren't meant to be. Like counters... where food is prepared. Nope, not ok. But how do you tell a cat no? Especially when one of them is deaf? Yeah, doesn't work so well. So, when we aren't in the kitchen, we turn the full unit on (this is just the replacement canister), and it helps us keep the cats down. How, you ask? Simple. It motion detects, and then activates the sprayer, which shoots a puff of air at them. There is also a handy "screech" sound that has an added effect on our normally hearing cats. And no, the cats do not like it, and quickly learn that the counter is off limits (at least while the Sssscat is on). The replacement canister works perfectly. Depending on how long you use the Sssscat, you may need to order it more or less often than once a month, but for us, once a month is perfect. And yeah, it's a bit pricey, but worth it when you are trying to keep your food areas sanitary.

It works well
I have 5 cats who are not allowed in my bedroom. If I'm in there, they'll paw at the door or lay there against it playing with toys. Yeah, that's adorable, but not while I'm trying to sleep. Before I got to bed, I set the PetSafe Motion-Activated device on one side of the doorway facing the other, like a sentry. It keeps my cats away from the door. In fact, they eye it up suspiciously & give it a wide berth, when it comes out. Granted, it's kinda loud when it goes off, but less of a problem for me inside with the door closed. Plus, it rarely goes off now, after the 1st few times when I first began using it. More often it goes off because I walk through & don't step high enough (which is a good test that it's still working, doesn't need a battery or canister change). One canister lasts months, as do the batteries. I should thank Jackson Galaxy's show for introducing this product to me. It's fabulous.

XLNT Squirrel Repellent for Screen Door
Absolutely love this....EXCEPT for the replacement price cost. Additionally, I must agree with another reviewer ----- I def do not get 75-100 sprays :( The outrageous cost is another factor that makes me frown.....hopefully, 'the point' will get across in a short amount of time (to both manu + prob animal). It's just AIR..... this replacement can should probably cost only $5-7 bucks.... not twice+ that amount. While the item is a fabulous invention, due to cost and lack of 'counted' sprays, I give it only 4 stars. This may very well be however an item that should help many others with their real pet problems :) I started to occasionally give raw nuts (yes, on me...my bad, I admit) to a squirrel who is blind in one eye when I moved into a new apt. Yep, felt sorry and he was very cute. But 'in not very long of a time' - he learned that the nuts were stored inside. I've come home to squirrel poop and pee in the house after he chewed his way thru the screen door..... not okay, once was enough. Problem is that he kept coming and trying to chew thru the screen. My screen is an absolute mess, even with foil heat tape over his chew holes, he keeps chewing thru new places and even the tape. I've used straight vinegar in a spray bottle to 'disperse' other squirrels (and One-Eyed Willie (the goonies:)) . Problem was that when it's hot and the slider is open with only the screen door open, he keeps mangling it to death and would have eventually come in again. One of these puppies works exceptionally well outside (along with a Doberman MotionDetector alarm inside) and I don't have to go running to the screen to dissuade screen chewing by spraying vinegar. I did create this problem and have learned from it, and must admit that this is the only thing that has saved my summer....when it comes to a squirrel -there really ain't much to dissuade them other than something like this. I love my little friend and he hangs around in the shade with me when it's hot and I sit outside....but enough is enough. I can now leave my slider open even if gone for the day with this (using the full MDetector top&bottom kit). I'd rec in a minute; if it works for squirrels --- it should work for almost anything else. I've an exceptional situation and this was my LAST OPTION to assist in correcting the problem that I created. NOW, when it's summer hot outside, I can rest assured that Willie ain't coming thru the screen ever again..... and I can enjoy the outdoor air with only a screen keeping the outdoor critters outdoors!!

Worked great but did not train my cat to stay off of the kitchen counters
My original can was empty so I purchased this replacement. It did not last very long and although it did deter my cat for the couple weeks of use, it did not help train her to stay off the counters in my kitchen. I am having more luck with a spray bottle of water.

Saved my Kitchen!!
Remodeled our kitchen and before we even had the countertops, our cats, yes CATS, were regularly using the bathroom everywhere. I do not know why. I bought a very expensive sound/shock collar warning system. No matter what we did, the cats were still toileting everywhere on my cabinets. I love my cats. If I hadn't been desperate, I would have never bought the shock collars. But we just spent $20,000 on a brand new kitchen. So being desperate, my daughter ordered this and the apparatus which sprays. It is on a motion sensor. Cats jump up and get a harmless but startling spritz of air. This worked. We have been using since March. This is July. I am thrilled to report that my kitchen is safe to eat in and we are much happier with our fur babies.
