I use these on whiteboard but over time some writing eventually becomes 'permanent'....hard to erase. Any way to get around this? Thanks!

I'd suggest using the non-permanent markers, Staedtler Lumocolor Non-Permanent Fine Point Markers (STD316WP4A6).

Did I get a bad batch? Black is very light and "watery" on CD/DVD. Very faint when dry.

Must be bad, I've had 4 sets of these and they are all real vivid in all colors. Black is true black, even on CD's.

is it a alcohol-based ink pen?

I believe so. I use them on laminated maps. The marker they use to remove the marks are alcohol based. I use my wife's acetone as well to remove the marks which works really well. So, yes, I think they are alcohol based.

Is the 318-WP4 Refillable?

These Staedtler pens are long lasting and reasonably priced, no need to refill. p2-services.
