Does all that it says
I had been aware of this for several years, but the last time I looked on the OWC site it was too expensive. Delighted to see the price had dropped. I've been struggling with lack of space on my Mac Pro's internal drive (500GB) and wanted to replace with something larger. I ordered the 2TB last week and it arrived on Friday (a day earlier than expected). I put off installing till today because of several things I needed to do and thought if anything went wrong they would be out of the way. I gathered everything together, disconnected everything from the Mac Pro and first cleared a lot (6 years' worth!) of accumulated dust. It took about 5-10 minutes to remove the old SSD and about the same to install the new one, mainly because of being ultra cautious and dropping the screw on the floor. Installation of the old SSD in the supplied caddy took slightly longer. Mainly as I was trying to use the old Apple screw - it doesn't work, it's too small. OWC provides a replacement. Reconnected a minimum of cables, attached the old SSD using the supplied USB3 cable and restarted. Booted immediately from the old SSD. The new Aura appeared as it was already formatted, but to HFS+. Using High Sierra of later (don't think it works with earlier versions) used Disk Utility to reformat. Renamed the old SSD so the new one could have the same name. Used Carbon Copy Cloner to move everything across and then restored from the new SSD. Took slightly longer than usual to restart but came up as normal. Most things seem to work, but it has killed Office 2011 (I hate the latest version of Word) (happened on my MacBook Pro too when I had to reinstall Mojave to solve a problem with Parallels). So just have to get on with Office 365. Altogether, including cloning and restarting, took about 2 hours. Very happy (so far). I read a complaint that there was no Torx screwdriver in the kit. There is in mine, and a Torx allen key.

Rock and roll heatsink causes curved bottom mac not recognising new (lovely looking) caddy solved
With the heat sink in place the whole laptop rocks. however that proved to be a secondary problem more importantly the MacBook a mid 2014 model did not recognise the new dirve in the caddy solution dispense with the cool looking caddy get a standard laptop hard drive in a caddy (or I suppose you could use a spare external drive although I have not tried that remember all data on the drive will de replaced by your mac system) use a clone software (Not sure I am allowed to say which I use but they all similar, clone your drive to the external usb drive then replace the internal card( the heat sink is needed without it the system freezes) then keep the caddy connected when you reboot and the mac will reboot with your system :) via usb then repeat the clone process in the opposite direction and viola your system is back with the updated drive ( and the recognition of the original caddy has nothing to do with the osx version ) I also suppose this method would work if you did not want to upgrade your OSX just yet

No Pentalobe Screwdriver
Can’t review the performance of the SSD as could not install it because the pentalobe screwdriver was missing. Also, the included usb case cannot be used with the included SSD, only the one original one from the Mac which prevents you from testing the SDD and copying to it before opening up the Mac to replace the internal one.

Quality SSD drive
The drive was very easy to fit (in a Mac Pro). It may help to watch the online videos first, but it's literally unscrew one screw, fit and replace the screw... probably took 5 mins tops. All the tools required were included. It's worth investing in the version that has the additional external case for your old SSD (there is a version where you just get the replacement SSD)... that's very easy to install too and gives you another spare disk at very little cost.A great product and highly recommended...

Exactly as advertised
The SSD was exactly as advertised, the instructional video made installation a straight forward process and the drive has functioned just as I would have hoped, though I have only had it a few weeks. The packaging, tools and instructions in the box speak to a well made product from a company who know what they are about and want to provide the best service they can. From my experience, I can find no fault in any aspect of this product.
