The BEST scrunch finisher for dry, coarse hair...soft, set waves
I have used this curl enhancing smoothie along with other Shea products (Curl and Style Milk, Curling Souffle), and it has been GREAT for my dry, course hair in Texas humidity. This is a perfect finishing product for a scrunch set....holds the curls beautifully and helps control the frizz. Also works well asa refresher. The best part is that a little goes a looooong way...I have been using this steadily for a few months and have barely dented the jar. (I only need a quarter size dollop.) I noticed that someone in a previous review mentioned a white sheen -- I rub the product between my hands and use this to help "scrunch" the curls. It does leave a whitish coating that soaks in within a few minutes...and just leaves nice, soft and defined curls. I love this stuff. NOTE: This really is a "Smoothie" -- helps to smooth things out. I use the style milk for moisture, souffle for some definition and the smoothie to finish it off. All together, perfect combination for my hair, and doesn't seem to build up or leave residue.

A necessary part of your product haul
I have been chemically relaxing (straightening) my hair since I was 8. After 20 years of relaxers, I big-chopped in October 2013. Transitioning was difficult. As my natural 4c hair grew out, I learnt that the products that worked well in my chemically relaxed hair did nothing for my natural hair. No matter what I did, my hair was so incredibly DRY, and I could not figure out why.Thank goodness for youtube. There I learnt that most of the products I used were either not good for natural hair or really not good for hair at all. This product was mentioned constantly and seemed to be a crowd favourite. I was committed to buying it.I can truly say that this was the first product that helped me start turning the tides in the battle against dryness. At first use, my hair was noticeably softer on application and stayed softer than usual for the rest of the day (though not as miraculously soft as I had hoped). Previously, after styling my hair in the morning for work (around 7am), my hair would be crispy-dry by 3pm despite being in an air conditioned office. This no longer happened, but my hair would still get dry pretty fast, particularly if I was outside in the elements (sun!) as opposed to in an office. But then, after my product haul grew, and I started combining this product with a couple others, my dry hair problem practically disappeared.I have been using this product for about 6 months now and I consider it a staple. I suspect that it is effective because of the humectant (vegetable glycerine), which works by drawing moisture from the air and into your hair. I need this throughout the day because my hair is medium to high porosity - meaning it loses moisture pretty quickly. The humectants seem to balance the effect of this when it draws moisture from the air, back into my hair. When combined with other products, my hair is rarely ever dry at all.For my fros, for example, I would wash and condition my hair, then apply this product relatively generously (along with shea moisture curling gel souflee and eco-styler gel), then braid my hair to dry. When I take it down the next morning, I can fluff my hair into a nice fro. This lasts 7 days with nightly re-braiding (large braids so it doesn't take too long) and I have to re-moisturise only once during the week, if at all. I do admit though that this result came from the combination of products, and you need to be careful to balance that combination because if your hand is too heavy, you risk that annoying "greasy" feel to your hair. For twist-outs, I use it a more sparingly - just enough to keep my hair soft, but not so much that it draws so much moisture into my hair, that the twist-out curls reverts into an afro.I want to emphasise tho - particularly to newly natural 4cs who are now confronting the battle against dryness - this product is not a cure all. For me it took a combination of products, including this one, to get the soft hair I am now touching in between penning this review. Still, I gave it 5 stars because it was definitely a needed addition to my product haul.

A BAD BATCH!!!
This is my second time buying this product and it has changed! This batch pulled half my hair out. It seems Tempered with or just a bad batch. I want money back!!! But, how when I used it after the time allowance. People don’t always use items ASAP they need to be confiscated.
