These are a Fabulous Treat From my Youth
Great Quality product. I canโt wait to make these. I remember them being a Favorite from my youth! Iโm 77 now but still remember how easy & yummy they were. My Mom sold her Iron at a Yard Sale !๐ก. So glad I spied this one.

excellent
This product is excellent. Do not use in dishwasher. Do not use abrasive soaps and abrasive sponges. The rosette iron is smooth and needs to stay that way. Clean all parts in dish soap and let dry before first use. let dry 6 to 8 hrs. Always preheat rosette iron assembled in hot oil. read the manual

Performs Fairly Well
I purchased this to do some traditional Norwegian holiday treats. I have only used the rosette designs, and they worked quite well. The only issue with the two tongs connected to the handle is that they will require some effort to be spread apart more so that two of the rosette designs can be used at once. This may take a bit of time to gently apply pressure on the tongs; I did not want to break them. Eventually I did get them spread apart adequately so that I could use two of the designs. This should not be something the customer has to do; the manufacturer should be providing adequate separation on this item. I would consider this item adequate for the cost.

These work perfectly if you follow short, clear instructions
Instructions say on first page to spread the tines apart to 3 inches. This was easily done with my hands. No tools needed. See photos. I donโt know why, but my first couple rosettes never turn out quite right and get tossed. The rest of them turned out just like my momโs and grandmaโs. Light, crisp, nicely formed. I use a family recipe, not the one in the instruction booklet. But itโs similar. Make sure to pre-heat the irons by putting them in the hot oil. You may have to experiment with oil temperature and with how deep into the batter you dip the irons. Too shallow and the batter curls up when it hits the oil. Same thing happens if oil is too hot. Too deep and you canโt get them off the irons in one piece. Batter has to be just below the top. So delicious and pretty when theyโre done!

mixed results
Unlike many people here I had little trouble using two irons at a time. It is largely about the correct recipe for the batter and the right technique in terms of dipping the irons in the batter long enough to get it to adhere. Once the irons were at the right temperature (hot) I would dip the irons in the batter for about 5 seconds. I heard a little sizzle when the iron first went in to the batter. The batter then slightly cooks to the surface. I slowly removed the irons from the batter and immediately dipped them in to the hot oil to fry them. For me 25-30 seconds at 375 degree oil made them nearly perfect. THE issue I had, and I could not for the life of me correct this, was that I could not get the rosette removed from the oil on the iron. Every single rosette dropped back in to the oil when I pulled the iron up. I had an accomplice remove them from the oil with a fork so they were all saved, however it made it tedious. The real problem from this is that the underside of the rosette pools some oil, making them greasier. I don't know if it's because the aluminum surface is so smooth, or from oil being on the irons (I tapped a lot off but some still remained), or what other technique change I could make. My mother's old iron ones worked MUCH better in this regard. In the end, the product worked, and the cookies were delicious... but because of the difficulty in getting the cookies out of the oil, I could not rate this system higher than a 3.

Love them!
I used them to make Bunuelos ( a Mexican dessert) and they worked well. I have only used the star and the floral shaped one thus far. They were easy to use. The small size (about four inch diameter) allowed me to make six at a time in a 12 inch pan

Very well made!
I have fond memories of my Mother making these delicate cookies around Christmas time. They were so good and went so very fast! Her iron was not double sided, though and it took quite a long time to make enough for my then, big family. I don't know what happened to that old rosett iron, but I had been thinking of it when I did an Amazon search for one. This one also had the little tart cups! Guess what my little family will be having around Christmas this year?o! The pieces are nice and heavy, well made. There is a little care and recipe book inside the box as well, but lots of recipes are all over the internet. I am super pleased with my purchase, and it is so good in quality that I will be able to pass it down to my daughter one day, unless she buys her own, of course!
