BOSCH HC2109 5/8 In. x 37 In. x 39 In. Bulldog SDS-Plus Rotary Hammer Bit

This bit made simple work of an extremely difficult job. I was drilling a pilot hole through an 8"+ foundation that was old and full of boulders for aggregate. The stone inside this foundation was much more difficult to drill compared to poured concrete foundations of today with small aggregate stone.I was originally using a bit that came with the hole saw on a rotary/hammer drill and it was a labored effort and was making extremely slow progress. I swapped to this Bosch Bulldog bit and I was able to drill through the foundation in Hammer mode nearly effortlessly;.This bit is high quality, and there is a difference when compared to lower end bits that are typically included with inferior products.Spend the money on quality when it comes to stuff like this and your arms, hands, and back will thank you and make easy work of a hard job.

I bought this to use with rock wedges. I read some negative things that implied this bit isn’t up to the task.It is.Don’t push on it. Let the actual hammer drill do its job. Keep it cool. Use a small bottle and stop every few seconds to fill the hole with water. On old cement I used it on the standard hammer drill setting. I am using a Bosch SDS plus drill. It goes through like butter. Until it hits a rock, of course.This morning I drilled two holes into modern 3600 psi concrete. My driveway. That did slow it down. So I broke out a pointed chisel bit and set it to Hammer plus drill. Once that hole was well started using lots of water, I kept the same setting and switched to this drill bit, and that bit just went to town.With any tool taking this kind of abuse, you must treat it with some respect. Keep it cool. Don’t force it. Let the drill machine do the work.Mine is still going strong with several hours of use on it.

I use the 1/2" version of this bit for drilling holes in granite to break up large stones. They work great and are long lasting. If you are using them for stone make sure you buy more than one so you can rotate them as they heat up. Otherwise you could risk damaging the bit.

bought for a specific project, It worked great, but like all projects" always measure twice before cutting", always measure twice before buying a drill bit. I have to purchase a 24" drill bit because I'm just a little short. It was not the bits fault. ):

I'm going to return the bit. I was shipped by amazon just wrapped in bubble wrap and was completely arched/bowed rendering it unusable and destroyed. I have purchased the same bit before in a larger size which they are awesome workhorses, I needed this smaller size to make punching through a 36inch masonry and adobe wall. Well now I have to wait again. The bubble wrap shipping amazon chose is totally unacceptable. They took away the shipping box review so I'm leaving my negative feedback here. Update: replacement bit came in today, this time it was shipped in a cardboard box fully protected. Bit was straight and ready to put in work! These masonry bits are fantastic. I'm changing my rating from 1 for the arched bubble wrapped bit to a 5 for the replacement properly shipped. Again my negative feedback was directed towards the shipping the bit themselves are superb.

This bit chews through concrete like it was plastic! I use it to run security camera cables through foundations. Great buy!

Purchases to install frost free hose bib as there are none anywhere near that side of my house. At grade is the poured concrete basement wall- about 10” thick.I selected the 1” drill to make sure I had plenty of space for pipe.I would say it took no more than a minute or two of actual drilling with a couple stops in between. Drill bit performed perfectly and after wiping down can’t even tell it was used really.Thinking about picking up 3/4” size too just to have for next project.

Nice fast holes as long as it is paired with a rotary hammer drill not just a small hammer drill.

I bought these for more $ from the local store before. For some reason, these from Amazon are lasting much longer before wearing out. They are really great bits.
