This has been a great all purpose knife
UPDATE (2 years): Still working beautifully. I bring this knife with me many places and have used it for a variety of needs (including camping, car repair, around the house fix-it stuff, etc.). I have not done anything to care for the knife in the past two years (no lubricating, no tightening....nothing!), I just occasionally wipe the dirt off it and it still works perfectly just like the day I got it. Don't forget it's still very sharp and has not required sharpening (given I don't use the blade for cutting anything dense or challenging, just cord, cloth, etc.).UPDATE (1 year+): This knife is awesome. I use it multiple times a week and often carry it with me just in case. It's in perfect working order after hundreds of uses over the past year+ and has not required any maintenance. Smooth action and no problems still. I've used it as a screw driver, hammer, and any other weird way you can use a EDC blade as a tool and it keeps going strong. This has been a great all purpose knife. I use it around the house for various tasks and it's come in handy for camping and fishing. It's sharp, reliable, and highly reviewed by many others. I've only owned a few knifes like this in the past so it's difficult for me to compare to the market. But, I would mention that I've had the knife for over 6 months now and have had no issues with anything coming loose (not even a bit). I use the knife almost daily and it feels just as nice as the day I got it. It has a good weighted feel in your hand and seems to be made of solid materials. The knife edge is very sharp and the serrated edge is very useful for fishing and camping purposes. Obviously a purpose specific knife may do some of the jobs I refer to better, but for edc this is a solid blade. Highly recommended.

The very best EDC knife
I've carried this knife for years... the photo is of my original red handled unit that I just replaced because I have misplaced it somehow. The knife is super lightweight. It opens very easy yet will not open in your pocket. The blade is serrated so opening boxes is a breeze. It's super inexpensive so if you have to sacrifice it for some reason you haven't lost a days pay. This old one shown had been sharpened many times. I loved it. I miss it. I use it for everything... even opening pull doors so I don't have to touch the door going into a restaurant. Just pull it out of your pocket and pull open the door with the aluminum handle. The new one I just received was the EXACT same knife function and feature wise. It's open on both sides. You can wash it; put it in the dishwasher. To me it's virtually perfect. For less than 40 bucks just get it. You're going to have a new long term relationship! Now, Gerber... please bring back the red!

Good knife.
Good knife... Sturdy and nice looking. Came with a good edge. Easy to open and hard to close. Both good things. I guess my only issue is that when closed the blade still moves a bit. Like it doesn't close snugly. I found it open a bit in my pocket and the tip was actually cutting my jeans. I know I can tighten the screw, but that's a pain.Overall, a 4 star purchase.

Lost my last one after 4 years. Would buy 100 times over
I had this knife for 4 years and then misplaced it at a hotel. I repurchased this one as a replacement. I would buy it again and again if I lose it. I carry this knife EVERY SINGLE DAY and I use it for something just about everyday. I use it to cut my kids food when we are out, I use it to cut strings off clothes, open packages, you name it. This is the PERFECT pocket carry knife. The clip is tight but not too ridged so it quickly comes off and goes back on my pocket with one hand. The swivel is not loose but easy enough to open with a thumb or hard flick. The lock bar (and this is important because a ton of knives screw this up) can be easily pushed aside to allow for one handed closing - because the lock bar is a different metal entirely from the frame. The blade held its edge with only semi-annual sharpenings (which for my level of use is impressive). Some might say its a bit big for a pocket knife, but I have found its length quite useful (especially for food with toddlers around). It allows me to cut fruits and breads that a 1-2" knife just wouldn't do.I cannot praise this knife enough. I find them on sale occasionally and give them out as gifts to everyone I know.

Gerber knives always exceed my expectations.
As always great Gerber quality. Got it for a Scout that was being awarded His Eagle Scout status. He was very pleased.

Perfect for what it is
Ok, let's be clear about what this is and isn't. If you can carry on a conversation about the specific high carbon steel of your favorite blade, this isn't that kind of knife. If you refer to a knife as your EDC (every day carry) because a knife is effectively a man-vanity item for you, not this one.But this is ideal for what it is. The balance of price, sharpness, and durability make it perfect to live in a car/backpack/tacklebox where you want to count on a solid knife but don't want to baby it and shed tears if it gets lost or dirty. It's really in the sweet spot for a camping/climbing/around-the-shop/etc knife that leads a pretty crap life and still is there for you, even if you never do it any favors.I've had 5 of these. Not because any have broken, but because I keep getting a second one to live in a different place and then giving it away to a family member who needs a decent knife. Honestly, I have better knives that cost a lot more, but a lot of the time I'm using a knife, I'm doing kinda crap things to it, so this is in my hand more often than the pricey ones.

Great little knife
Love this, got a second one just for a back up in case I lose the first. Good little knives for the money.

Very light, thin and easy to deploy
I have been using assisted opening knives for the last several years as my every day carry (EDC). I bought this one based off a suggestion from a friend and I have to say, I have no regrets. Opening it one handed with the thumb stud takes little effort. If for some reason I fail to fully deploy with my thumb (slips off, didn't get a good purchase on the stud, etc), then a quick flip of the wrist and it locks in place. I don't have any issue folding the knife one handed as well. As you can tell, one handed operation is very important to me and this knife meets that standard. I also like how thin and light it is. This makes carrying it in dress pants very easy. So far, the blade has stayed quite sharp and it is easy to clean and maintain. I prefer a serrated portion of the blade as well so this is perfect for me. While I still carry an assisted opening knife on occasion, this one is slowing becoming the only one I carry.
