This is not for the DW849 and will only fit the DWP849
It is just a smidge too wide to fit in the DW849 openings so I filed down evenly on both sides and also bent the tabs flat on the spring holder in order for it to fit and get the screw cap on, so it's still a good deal for the price but you might have to modify it a littleedit: This is not for the DW849 and will only fit the DWP849 so pay attention to this P in the model number

DWP849X Replacement
Did fit DWP849X buffer all that well. Had to jam them in and at that burnt out immediatly. Not worth the buy stick to OEM.
