Heegomn Camcorder

I haven't used this camera yet, but it sure did come fast. I wasn't expecting it until Friday, September 8th, but it came Sunday, September 3rd. Haven't used it yet, but I had one just like it (that I damaged).

I like the size of the camera. It fits nicely in your hand. Not too heavy so it doesn't fatigue your hand. It has a lot of really nice features for a fairly inexpensive (not cheaply made) camera. And the seller ships fast!

I bought this to video public lecturers and presentations for my YouTube channel, so I haven't tried some of its capabilities like night vision and digital zoom. Amazon offers several similar camcorders near the same price, all manufactured in China by companies you never heard of. I chose this one because it included the SD card, extra battery, and an add-on microphone. I'm glad I did.This camera takes excellent quality video, with options for various resolutions, including HD and 4K. However, the built-in mic captures very low sound, even at close range. Sound is much improved by attaching the external mic bundled with the product.There are a few gotchas to watch out for. My first test video recorded the person upside down. There was a setting in the menu for "auto rotate" that is shipped enabled, and once I found it and turned it off, the issue resolved. Nothing in the scant user manual tells you this.The external mic, which I believe is essential to record sound as good as the picture quality, could use some engineering enhancements. It has its own battery which must be charged separately, and its own off on switch which must be turned on when recording. This means you cannot just press the record button, but also have to make sure you have turned on the mic--a step easily forgotten. Also, it connects to a jack in the back camera by a cord which comes from the front of the mic. Be careful not to let the cord drape in front of the lens. A better design would have been for the cord to come out the back of the mic, so it could connect to the camera without being in the way.Finally, the camera comes with a remote control. From what I can find in the user manual, you must use the remote to playback a video or to delete a video. Why these functions are not available on the built in menu is not explained. But the result is you must carry the remote if you want to check to make sure you have the video you want before moving on.Despite these irritating inconveniences, this camera bundle is a value proposition considering its low price.

No Auto Focus - subject MUST be 4+ feet away for it to be in focus. This is quickly glossed over, and I full on shame Heegomn for trying to pass this off as a good fully functional camcorder.

My grandson loves his camera. It's been well used for a year now with no issues...except that he lost the operators manual and there are a lot of features to play with. An email to the company resulted in a pdf of the manual the next day! Thanks!

I tend not to give 1 star reviews, as people just think your a complainer, angry, or you did something stupid and are embarrassed. I ran this through its paces as a handheld video, tripod, streaming, and playback. The picture on this is not up to quality. It says it's 4K but my phone is better. The on camera controls are not intuitive at all. The remote is very slow to respond, and typical IR. The battery was dead for the remote so I had to buy a new one. The microphone is actually ok and picks up fine. It is a bit woody, not unexpected for a omni-directional mic. The 1/4 inch standard tripod treaded hole is shallow and does not fully seat to the tripod mount. This causes the camera to swing or rotate if not 100% level. I tried to shim it with some paper and it worked, but I imagined the future of me trying to compensate for this camcorders inadequacies. That was a big NOPE.

This is a cute little camera for kids but honestly I don't know if it is any good and for that reason I gave it a 1 rating. I charged the battery as suggested in their instructions, but the camera would not operate. I don't know if I had a bad battery or a bad camera. Since it was for a child's 9th birthday, I chose to return it and but a different manufacturer. While the screen lit up during charging, once complete the camera would not come on so I am unable to judge any of the qualities listed above.
