Best waterer I have ever used.
This is by far the easiest top fill chicken waterer I have ever used. The design is superior to any others available currently and easier to clean and keep clean. I have a small flock and this will keep them well watered for a few days at a time. Because of its capacity I use a 2 gallon watering can or hose to fill it and leave it in place. The water stays cleaner longer. It is certainly the easiest one to clean I have ever used having smooth sides without a lot of nooks and bends to clean around. I highly recommend this product above all others available at this time.

UPDATE: It actually does work. It seems like this should have worked great ....
UPDATE: After reading a few reviews about tightening the cap, I thought I would try that before sending it back. After 5 days of tightening the cap, things seem MUCH better. I was tightening it before, but now I give it a little "extra" tug and that seems to have done the trick. The water is not coming out anymore. QUESTION: Has anyone tried painting the container black? I ask because of the algae build-up. If there is less light coming algae will not grow - at least that is my theory? Anyone know about this? I initially really liked the idea of this product... handles, fill from the top. Seemed like the perfect waterer for my chickens. The first one I received had a flat side on the part that holds the water. I was sent another. I have had problems on and off with keeping water in this. I have leveled the area where it sits 6 times. Put a number of different things under it, hoping that would work. In the end, the water is not staying in the container. Initially when I fill it, things seem okay but when I come back a few hours or more later, it is empty which is not right. The only conclusion I can come to is there is a leak somewhere. I have looked but have not been able to find a leak. I hate to rate this product so poorly as I really did like it but I just cannot get this to work. And, I cannot run the risk of having no water for the chickens in the middle of summer. I am going to have to find an alternative. Anyone have any suggestions before I chop this thing up out of frustration?

Works great for 9 hens
Does exactly what it should do. Large and last them quite awhile. The waterer seems very sturdy and easy to use and i really like the fact you fill it from the top rather than try to flip it over with all that water.

Not the perfect waterer
I have had this waterer for about 2 years but rarely use it. I put it out with my young pullets and it leaked all over their pen. It's really difficult to use because all the planets have to be aligned or it leaks. I'm not even sure why it was leaking this time; it seemed level, the lid was screwed on really tightly, etc. Very frustrating!

7 gallon fount is too big
This is a well-built fount and some might find it perfect for their application, but I don't. I wanted a really big fount so I wouldn't have to fill it very often. Unfortunately, this beast is a bit too big to deal with. I have to screw the lid on very tightly to ensure nothing leaks. If we are out of town for a few days and the fount leaks, then my hens might die. Also, cleaning it is a chore. So I ended up putting this one loft and setting out a big super-cheap plastic wash basin. If I'm going to be gone a few days, then I can just put out a second wash basin. The wash basins are a really cheap, really easy to fill, and really easy to clean. Plus they collect rain water The wash basin is working great and I'm kicking myself for spending so much on a fount. Would have given it four stars, but the last 3 liters or so of water are stuck in the bottom of the jug and never drain into the red pan. Also docked it because I have to clamp the lid on so tightly to keep it from leaking.

No Hangups
The waterer arrived quicker than I thought it would. Very happy to see that! It does work very well, and I have had no real issues with it. There was only one problem with it. I was hoping to hang it so it would be easy to adjust the height, to keep dirt and the like out. Unfortunately, the removable bottom will not stay in proper position when the birds start to get a little heavy with the drinking. Not really an issue as the waterer is not designed for that application. Cleaned up the mess and put it back the way it was designed. Since then, it has worked flawlessly!

Great water feeder for my chickens.
I bought this water can for my chickens and I am pretty happy with this purchase. The size is great and I never find my chicks out of water after a long day. The wide mouth opening makes it easy to clean the inside (it can get some green growing in the bottom). So far the plastic has held up well in the partial sun that I gets. I don't have to worry about snow and below freezing weather in the winter is fairly rare. I'm hoping that it lasts through a few summers before the plastic gets brittle.

why the price hack?
Bought this for 18.95...is an excellent waterer and wanted to order a few more...but right away they are jacked well over 100$??? As soon as the chicken craze kicks in the cost of supplies are jacked 400% ...not affordable nor worth that price.
