Almost essential
This thing is almost essential for painting miniatures. It can accomodate a wide range of base sizes so it's great for 40K as well as other miniatures for other games/brands. Grip is nice and comfortable, too.

Worth getting
Got it cheaper then in the store, straighforward to use and make holding minis way more comfortable. I own multiple to work on a few things at a time while they are drying.I think the older bulkier design is more comfortable but this is still better then having your hand cramp up while trying to paint a face and making your marine look like the joker.

Great gift for painting models. Easy to hold and doesn't hurt hands. Good value for money, works well

It will hold miniatures
Yeah, does a good job for what it is. I was previously using blue tack and the top of a primer spray can to hold the models. This is fair bit nicer to use, especially when doing the tricky underside.
