Good low cost option
Very basic but works as described. It’s easy to read and use. Cleaver design that can attach the two modules in the order best suiting the situation and also deters loss. Included a black vinyl travel case. Just add a 9V battery and you’ll be testing Ethernet cables like a pro.

Very good product
EASY to use, my sister who knows NOTHING about computers was able to use and test cables and recognized when wiring was crossed. Solid product, very hardy and well made.

It works !
Tested cat5e cable with RJ45's worked on all my cables. Found a problem with one connector and replaced it then tested OK. Just remember to remove the battery if your storing for a long time.

Simple cable tester
Works just fine for my purpose. All i need it to do is simple continuity test on network cables. Saves me time and frustration on having to use my multimeter to try and meter each individual wire on a cable.

Power Switch was defective, unit won't turn off!
Dislikes: the unit I recieved has a defective power switch, put in a 9V battery and the light started blinking, showing power was on, switch was in the off position when checked.Turned switch on to first setting slow test, power light blinked slowly turned to quick test, power light blinked rapidly, which is normal.Turned swith to OFF setting, power light once again continued to blink, between both slow and fast blinking intermittenly, which is what it did as soon as I installed the 9V battery. Changed to a different 9V battery, tried 4 different brand new 9V batteries, each one with the same results. If I pressed down and held the switch diwn, unit would power off, but as soon as I released the pressure on the switch, back to the slow/fast intermittent blinking of the power light. The unit is useable, but I have to remove the battery between changing cables being tested, and at the end of testing, otherwise, the power switch not turning off properly would probably deplete the battery in a few days.I bought this to replace a unit (EXACT SAME UNIT) that I had used for well over 15+ years that finally went bad, and cost about the same as this one. I figured if the original unit I had been using lasted as long as it did, this one being an EXACT MATCH, it would have been just as reliable, and last as long.Sadly, not this time, the power switch not fully turning off the unit, having to remive the battery every time between changing cables to test and verify they're good, just not worth it. Fsr too much trouble. So, no can't recommend this one, spend a few bucks more and get a better tester. And that's exactly what I did.

Shipped in a crappy soft case with a defective zipper
The TrendBox Multifunctional Network Tester works as expected testing RJ45 ethernet cables. All it does is show whether the continuity of each of the 8 wires in the cable are connected to the matching pins at each end of the cable, but that is fine for a tester at this price point. I had no reason to evaluate the RJ12 feature. The reason for the 3 star rating is the worthless zipper style soft case the tester is shipped in. The design of the case is such that the 'closed' zipper goes around the corner of the tester, and given the snug fit of the case, the zipper would not open the very first time I tried to use the tester. I was tempted to return the tester on the spot. But returning it would have meant waiting to test a couple of newly installed cables, so I decided to risk damaging the case. Eventually the tab on the zipper broke off and I ended up cutting open the case with scissors. Fortunately the tester then worked as expected, so I didn't need to return a damaged product as the case went in the trash and the tester went into my Ethernet tool kit. Frankly, the tester does not even need a case, so there is no point to paying the manufacturer to include a case. Its even worse when one is forced to destroy the case to use the tester.

It works
I like the simplicity and price. Definitely recommend. People who are working with network cables really need this tool. Nice packaging too.
