Basically wanted a player with louder audio output and this did the trick. I'm satisfied and nuff said 😌

Overall a decent DVD player for overseas DVD formats
Overall, I am happy with this DVD player. For $31 and some change, it does the job. I purchased it for watching Cosmos: Possible Worlds, which I purchased from New Zealand with their region's DVD format. For some reason, this series has still not been released in DVD or Blu-ray disc format in the U.S. (We can thank the lawyers for that!) However, there are a couple of things one should know. The buttons on the remote control are a little small, but to me it isn't a big deal. Also, I find when I plug the player into the wall, it automatically powers up. So, just be aware that if you are not ready to use the player after plugging it in, remember to turn it off. Again, no big deal to myself. The significant factor with the player is the following: When I put the player on a hard surface while playing, i.e. a table or floor, it has a "whining" sound that is noticeable, so an increase in the T.V. volume may be needed. I placed a bath towel on top of the player, which helped muffle the whining sound. However, one time the whining sound got a bit louder that usual, and the DVD would "lock up" for several seconds, before starting again. Out of frustration, I picked up the player and started to shake it a little. However, when I picked it up off the floor, the whining sound went away. I then placed the player on top of the bath towel, and it still remained quiet, and played fine thereafter. I also find that with this player, if I leave the DVD on its "Main Menu" format, i.e. before pressing "Play" to start a chapter, or if I leave the player in "Pause" mode for a bit of time, both these instances cause the "whining" sound to start up again. So, the point here is, just start playing the DVD and don't pause it for long, and it should be fine. All that I mentioned here is from my own experiences and trial and error with my own player. To recap: 1) place the DVD player on a soft surface, such as a bath towel, before playing. And just play your DVDs when using the player, i.e. don't leave it on "Main Menu" or "Pause" for too long. I hope my novel here is helpful, and again for the $31 price, I cannot complain. Good luck!

Way much better than big named brands Blu-ray players.
PRO The size is small! The user interface is easy to navigate. The disc reading is fast and responsive! And it has no problem to play mkv files! One button for access usb is absolutely awesome. No problems to play varies disc format. CON The remote buttons layout is kind of strange. Took me awhile to overcome the learning curve. No internet connection for live bd feature. Conclusion Way much better than big named brands. CUZ I bought Sony BDP-S1700U here last month June 2026! Not worth it. Sony user interface is slow and ugly and sucks! Lonpoo is totally opposite.

Wish It Had Worked
I needed an inexpensive basic multi-region DVD player to watch some discs that I'm unable to play on my US region player. This one seemed perfect. It was small and a good price. I received the player, opened it and set it up. It was extremely easy to set up. I put in the first disc. It played. There were a couple of spots where the picture would move in slow motion before speeding up and righting itself and then it would lose sync. I chalked it up to the disc. I tried a second disc. That disc played even worse...continuously freezing, going into slow motion and loss of sync making the disc completely unwatchable. I tried a disc I knew without a doubt played perfectly and it too played in slow motion in spots, froze and lost sync at various points. I had it hooked up via component cables that came with the unit. Thinking that may be the cause of the issues, I hooked it up via an HDMI cable. The only difference that made was the picture quality improved greatly. I got frustrated and gave up trying to figure out what the issue was. The following day, I tried again. That's when it all went downhill. I put in a disc and the logo screen popped up. At first, it said 'no disc'. I ejected the disc, cleaned it and tried again...the logo screen came on and it said "loading". I could hear a spinning sound but nothing happened. I ejected the disc and tried another one, one that had played the previous day albeit with problems. Once again, the logo screen came on and said 'loading'. It did that for about 5 minutes before turning itself off. So now, no discs play...I can't get beyond the loading screen. Save your money...this player isn't worth the hassle.

LP-099 M/R DVD Player
LONPOO-099 Multi-Region DVD Player is worth every penny until it fails (which is about 9-12 months). The first one I bought was working great until about the (9) month-mark. The power mysteriously shorted out and the “disc eject feature” failed. Luckily, I had no dvds in the player. Being a electronic handyman, I decided to open up the box. I discovered the power connector to the motherboard was scorched and the rubber band controlling the “disc eject” had broke. Trashed the player and bought a new one. Prefacing my current experience: 2023 was a busy year for me, I wasn’t home for much. When I was, I would watch my Chinese martial arts or K-Drama dvds. Today, decided to continuing watching whatever dvd i had currently in the player. After finishing it, I went to switch it to the next disc. To my amazement, the “disc eject” feature failed to operate as intended. The power was good. Manual and remote control of the “eject” feature was no good. I decided to open up the box and, yet again, the rubber band controlling the “disc eject” had broke. But with this unit, I also noticed that there was some kind of “sticky substance” all over the electronics, even in areas where substance shouldn’t be. Poor craftsmanship. My conclusion: For the price you pay, its worth it. Be ready to replace it after about (9) months to (1) year if you use it almost everyday.

Plays multiple regions.
Now able to play the DVDs that I have bought, quite a number (as a result of poor marketing information), that were rejected by my regional DVD player. A big loss has turned into a win with this wonderful DVD player.

Adaptor plug not universal
I am finding it difficult to find an adaptor plug to plug in the dvd. Many stores in Durban South Africa do not stock the adaptor I still cannot use the DVD.
