The best hobby compressor available!
I’ve used this compressor for 2 years now, it’s one of the best investments I’ve made in my shop. I use it to paint models, small and large, and it has enough power to run a touch-up gun (Iwata RG3) when I have larger surfaces to cover. It’s very quiet, I hear the air coming from the airbrush over the compressor! I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a well made, quiet compressor.

Lack of instruction manual
Compressor is very silent, that's a plus. On the other side, a lack of manual is frustating due to the way one has to figure out how to place the oil supplied in the motor. Going to the Silentaire website and looking at their manual is of no help. So, if you want to buy this machine, be prepared to take the cover off and pour the oil directly on the motor. Hope this helps.

Lasts and lasts and...
I bought my DR-500 back in 2007. Other than a regulator that I had to replace in 2014, I haven't had any issues with it. As long as you keep good oil in it and drain the tank, it just plain works. Yeah, it's not exactly a cheap compressor, but on the plus side, it's not a cheap compressor (I've had my share of those, too). And it's still quiet.
