Arcturus Rainier Striped Wool Blanket, Twin, 64" x 88", Warm, Washable

I was honestly really worried about it having an odor. I am extremely sensitive to odors and intended on putting the blanket at the end of my bed. As soon as I opened it, I thought, oh no, because it does have a slight odor, and I could see how many could mistake it for a petroleum like smell. But I took it immediately and opened it completely to inspect it, and realized that it's just a wool smell. Any odor it did have almost immediately dissipated. I'm wondering if it's possibly from the plastic bag that it's packaged in?? Nonetheless, if your mot familiar with wool, it does have a scent to it, but it's really only ever noticeable if you literally push your nose into it. I'm a bit obsessed with wool. I have wool socks, multiple wool sweaters, many wool blankets etc. It is an amazing fabric that breathes, yet keeps you incredibly warm and doesn't hold odors. But you need to kind of get used to how to care for it. It rarely needs to be fully washed. It simply doesn't hold odors, and the less you wash it, the longer it lasts; I'm talking years and years and years it will last with proper care. I know the directions say you can machine wash it, butI would highly recommend trying not to as much as possible. It simply won't need it. If you were to have that uncommon accident like you spilled wine or something on it, then I would have it dry cleaned - but how often do those types of things really happen?? If it seems like got stinky, air it on a line outside for awhile. It won't hold the odor and you run the risk of damaging it with each wash. I have Scottish wool blankets, New Zealand wool blankets, Pendleton blankets, and now this one. It's not as thick as the Scottish blankets, but about the same texture, and bigger than those for roughly the same price. It's about as thick as the Pendleton blankets but stiffer, and not quite as soft. It costs roughly 1/5 of a Pendleton blanket. The only other wool blanket that I have that says it can be machine washed is the New Zealand wool blanket, but honestly the thought of machine washing it terrifies me, lol. Washing a large wool item just seems like a terrible idea, and why? It really shouldn't need it. I'm pleased with the price, quality, and weight of this blanket. I was slightly worried by the reviews that show theirs coming apart, but based on the info I received with it, I'm fairly comfortable that the manufacturer would respond should I have an issue.

Soo i had a problem with my blanket, I am very suspicious that amazon sent me a used blanket, I can not prove this accusation but I think someone had this blanket before me and did not care for it correctly and returned it to amazon. This presented a special kind of dust bunny hell in my home for more than 2 weeks. I was frustrated to say the least. This was not my first blanket from this company and my previous experience was very different in the best possible way which is why i bought a second blanket from them. 5 stars for the Arcturus customer service as the lady I spoke with was absolutely fantastic and replaced my blanket with a new one immediately and followed up to make sure it was to my liking. Soo very impressed! The blankets are wonderful and soft and heavy and well made and so perfectly temperature regulating as only wool can do, BUT the Arcturus customer service won a lifetime customer from me ! No one paid or compensated me for this review, i am just impressed and Grateful Thank you ! Other things that make me suspicious of a used blanket being originally sent to me: the packaging with my first blanket the one that made me want a second blanket was packaged beautifully by arcturus and folded so neatly and it had a distinct smell and feel of lanolin as many wool blankets do. The original second blanket did not have the nice neat packaging nor did it have the feel and smell of lanolin as the first blanket did, odd ! Then the replacement blanket arrives for the suspicious blanket and its packaging is apple like just like the first blanket folded perfectly crisp packaging and the familiar smell and feel of the lanolin in the blanket. That was enough for me to be suspicious, hope this helps.

The real deal, I'm thrilled. In a world where you pay top $ for trash, theae blankets are a steal at this price. Spent a ridiculous amount of time looking for just this. I have 2 so far, Lone Pine and Fort Vancouver. 3 more loaded in my cart. These are not loosely woven see-through garbage, nor are they itchy military issue. I wouldn't say they're soft, but thats wool. Spent a 28°F night under a tarp with one and was comfy. Theyre heavy enough to be warm and comfy, but they're not ridiculously thick, perfect. The rustic patterns and colors are pleasing enough for the cabin and rugged enough for the trail. There will be a bit of an oily(?) odor which is actually a sign of quality which will fade after a bit. I actually like the smell of them. The twin size is big enough to wrap up in fae anyone short of a giant. My only gripe would be finding room to store all of them since I'll be buying more to pass down to family. I fully expect my future generations to fight over these once their value is appreciated.

Softer than most wool blankets I’ve come across. Seems thinner and more lightweight than it says but it is very warm and great. Smell is not over powering like some wool, just a slight “wool” smell but not strong enough to make you think. Overall excellent buy for the upcoming fall sports season

Nice, warm wool blanket. Many uses outdoors or indoors. Would buy again.

I’d wanted this blanket for quite a while before finally having the budget for it. It’s gorgeous. I really wish it was still offered in larger sizes, but as you can see, the twin size fits my very thin 6” full size mattress satisfyingly. Would not recommended for thicker or larger mattresses. The smell out of the packaging was noticeable, but not as strong as other wool blankets I’ve gotten. It is VERY warm. As you might be able to see in the corner, I have around 300 gallons of fish tanks, all of which require heaters, especially in this winter weather. Unfortunately we cannot plug in our own heater because it pops the circuit breaker. This is the main reason I finally bought this blanket. I needed something extremely warm, yet resistant to mold because we deal with extremely high humidity because of the tanks. We’ve already had to throw away a whole mattress and a duvet after we went on a trip and forgot to leave air circulating. Wool is PERFECT for this situation with its excellent temperature and moisture regulation. I mean why wouldn’t it be if sheep literally evolved their coats to be that way? I now pair this blanket with one other wool blanket and then a fleece blanket underneath us and we are completely unfazed by the freezing temperatures! It’s impressive. How I’ve cared for my blanket so far: I put it in the washer on delicates mode with tap cold water and a small amount of detergent (found out later I shouldn’t use detergent at all). And then I put it in the dryer to tumble dry. I gave it three 30 minute tumble dry sessions and emptied the lint catcher each time. It was full of green dust the first time, but pretty empty the third time. Then I let it air dry on my bed the rest of the way. No abnormal shedding like some other reviews have mentioned. Just be gentle and cold. It’s visually fuzzier after washing it, but really only a little bit. I plan to soak it in a bucket with some hair conditioner later down the line to soften the fibers.

I just received this blanket from the Amazon delivery. It is beautiful and almost exactly what I wanted. The wool is smooth and not at all itchy. The material substantial and has an expensive feel to it. The color and the pattern is rich and beautiful, but me for it is too large. I was looking for a throw blanket to stay warm while reading or watching TV but being for a bed, it would be dragging on the floor. It is made to cover a twin size bed, and I would keep it if I had a twin sized bed - did I mention it is beautiful. I wish I could keep it. If they had a smaller size I would switch it. I recommend it if you need a twin sized warm blanket to look nice and stay warm. Rated 5/5

This is a beautiful, extremely well-made blanket. The colors are vibrant and the blanket is soft and warm. I will be purchasing the red one soon!

Good quality,

We bought this to use outdoors (picnic blanket etc) and to keep in the car for emergencies. It's beautifully designed and very well made. Super soft, warm and comfortable. Haven't needed to wash it yet but it's supposed to be easy, just use regular washing machine.
