Was very disappointed. 2 of the 3 guns ordered did not work more than a couple of days, leaving our installers without tools for their job.

Cord is not a heavy enough gauge. It gets extremely hot when welding single ply membrane. It does work, but not sure if it will last with daily use on the roof.

I bought this to weld some TPO roof seams. It works great. I also use it to de-solder components from pc boards, works great for that. The cord should be a heavier gauge. It gets pretty warm after continuous use for a few minutes.

Good for the hobbyist, not contractor friendly
I bought this gun & kit for the purpose of welding vinyl deck membranes. I must say the price of this gun is what got me over the more expensive leister that this gun is trying to replicate. I am a contractor and i understand how nice quality tools are but wanted to see if this gun could hang in there. I have used the leister guns in the past and they are dependable. I bought this gun and when I received it, it came with a second motor as a replacement, which came as a warning sign to me, but at least I received one.I have used this gun on a condo project and the decks are only 18x4 1/2 feet, not a lot of welding involved by any means. I probably run the gun for 20-30 minutes straight including warm up. The first thing I seemed to notice was the gun doesn't seem to keep a truly consistent heat after you warm it up and start working. Then after 3 decks the gun started losing heat in the middle of welding causing me to have to stop thru do to the fact it would not ply material together. Even if I turned it right up to max heat it would not weld. So I shut the gun off for 10 minutes to let it cool down and tried again and it got back to proper temps but not for much longer. Obviously the motor is already tired but I won't replace it until it's dead. So as a contractor to contractor I would not recommend this gun unless you just need to get a job done and cannot afford the leister. As a hobbyist I am sure this gun would work for you. The roller that comes with it is almost a throw away. My first deck within two minutes the metal neck fell off due to it only being held in by a metal rivet into the wood handle causing me to drill the rivet out and install a 3 inch deck screw to hold it together. Then the rubber outer roller slides off the cylinder causing you I constantly push it back in place. End of story you get what you pay for. If you use these types of guns lots do not buy this as it will more than likely let you down when you least expect it to. If you use it briefly and not very often then it will probably work out ok.

You cannot control the air volume.
The assortment of plastic sticks is nice. The gun itself is nice, and the temp control is nice. I only have one complaint. you cannot control the volume of air,.. It blows a LOT of air out of it,... like a hair-dryer on high with a lot of force. It blows too hard, even with the tips on it, and it is very difficult to control what it is melting because of it. If it had a fan control on it, it would be much much better. On a side note: I have seen a few people complain about the element not lasting long. The element in it takes a long time (about 3 minutes or so) to come up to the temperature you have chosen. It is a really nice industrial heating element, but it can get damaged if you simply shut off the unit with it hot. What I have been doing is turning the temperature adjustment knob to its lowest setting and leaving it on for about 3 extra minutes, allowing it to cool off properly via the fan before unplugging it.I tried to use it to repair a plastic thick coolant tank from a big-rig truck. I resorted to using a 120watt gun-type soldering iron because it was blowing so hard, it was pushing the melted plastic out of the hole again.
