Scientists throughout the world agree: steel-cut oatmeal (the real thing, not those instants) is vastly better than rolled oats. Texture is better, flavor is massively better. I've been eating the Red Mill for a few weeks and now I'm ordering multiple bags from Amazon. Bob's Red Mill oatmeal is the best flavor I've found in oatmeal--like a number of Red Mill products, it's top quality; I love it. Oh my goodness, these steel cut oats are amazing! So much better than other brands. My kids, picky eaters, ask for these every morning. The morning I ran out and had another store brand, they turned their noses up and asked what was up with the oats that morning. These are now a pantry staple. Steel cut oats give the coziness of oatmeal, but the texture is just a little more satisfying. We are from the south and love grits, and it’s like a delicious grainy form of them. Less gritty, more oatmealy.

I'm hooked on this stuff. No more raisin bran for me. This is worth the extra bit of trouble it takes. I soak 100 grams of oats in 10oz. of water overnight in the microwave. Next morning, I run it for 30 minutes at 3/10ths power. Add a jolt of milk and some honey and it's thick, crunchy and delicious!

I tasted steel cut oats at my school's cafeteria last semester and I'm so glad that I did. Oats are healthy, I know, but I really hated the mushy texture of common oats (raw or rolled or quick-cook). This one is not like that at all. I love the crisp chewable-ness (sorry, English as a second language) so much.. The downside though is it takes longer to cook (~10min) and somehow feels more expensive.

First, Red Mill steel cut oats are great. My family is from Ulster, and I have eaten tanker loads of porridge in my life. These are the best oats I have found. However, I recommend buying the organic Red Mill oats as they come in a more substantial, resealable package. One of the two packages in this order broke open in shipping and there were oats all over. I can't find a place on the Amazon site to get a replacement as food orders are not returnable. I get in a circle that keeps sending me back to 'this item isn't returnable'. I ended up paying twice as much for one package. I won't order oats in this packaging again, but I will order Red Mill oats again.

This is my go to breakfast every single morning. I top it with banana slices, fresh raspberries or strawberries and blueberries. It holds me until lunch and beyond at times. I love the fiber content too.

Been eating steel cut oats for a while but never knew there was such a difference. Red Mill is the only brand I'll eat now. If you set these beside another brand you can actually see a difference and they taste more wholesome. Love them.
