Bad inorganic smell, even after cooking. Don't buy at all unless seller assures quality improved.
Very smelly. It smells like alcohol. Even after washing in water for long time the smell does not go. I tried cooking in different ways mixing with other kind lentils, but very tough to get rid of the smell even when cooked. Absolutely don't recommend.

Old product
This toor dal was old. I cooked it for four hours after boiling and soaking the dal for two hours and then tried overnight in a crockpot. It was still not soft. Ruined my kitchari.
