Vanco280573 HDMI Audio Extractor

I have an Oppo 103D that can play SACD, DVD-Audio, and BluRay Audio. I wanted to hook the Oppo up to my 2 channel stereo system using the highest resolution possible. The Oppo's Toslink and Digital Coax inputs limit audio output to a resolution to 48K, but hi-res audio is passed on the HDMI output. The Vanco goes between the Oppo and the TV and extracts the audio and passes it on a Toslink or Digital Coax output on the Vanco unit. The Vanco's Digital Coax is connected to my Digital to Analog Converter. This unit will pass at least 24/192K. In this configuration I get 24/88.2K on SACD and 24/48K on standard Blu Ray and it can play hi-res music (48K, 96K, and 192K) downloaded from HDtracks and placed on a memory stick. I have not tried DVD-A or Blu Ray Audio yet - but I'm confident it will work fine. The unit automatically defaults to 5.1 when powered up. This is the setting you need on the Vanco to pass hi-res audio. it you change it to 2CH it will down convert to 48K. This unit seems very similar to the Kanex Pro HAECOAX. Works great.
