Perfectly functioning pull-up bar
I've had my Everlast pull-up bar for over a month now. In short, coming from someone who's been doing pull-up workouts routinely for the last 3 years, its everything it is supposed to be. A great product, as advertized. My pull-up bar shipped promptly and was packed in an additional external box, thereby protecting the actual product box as well as keeping the object of my purchase 'private'. The pieces were all present and in new condition, as well as all of the required nuts and screws. Contrary to what some reviewers have reported, ALL of the nuts and screws fit perfectly. Some of the screws had a unique, rubber coating on the inside of the nut - this allows for a much tighter, more secure connection thus increasing the longevity of the device. The instructions (as well as the quantity) clearly indicate where those special nuts are to be used. It fits my door-frame perfectly; the inner space between my door-frame measures 30 inches. So I guess from outer-edge to outer-edge that makes my door-frame about 34 inches. The instructions were very, very clear and complete assembly took me about 10-15 minutes. The instructions say that the device holds up to 300 lbs. Through the use of a weight-vest I've tested it to 200 lbs without any problem or anything to make me think that the device couldn't withstand at least another 50 lbs. The instructions include a toll-free number for you to call and, if need be, request a replacement set of nuts and screws, FREE of charge. That's nice. Additionally, there's a 1 year product warranty (from the date of purchase, so keep that receipt) for repairs or replacement, free of charge, in the event of a defect in materials or workmanship. I have not attempted to use it for sit-ups or pushups - so I can't attest to its functionality in those uses, however for pull-ups/chin-ups it is more than adequate and I can see this device lasting for well over a year; longer if it doesn't get thrown around, played on, or otherwise abused/misused. Fantastic product. It is a bargain. I just bought a second one for my friend right before starting this review. :) Thank you Everlast & Amazon. If I could recommend a pull-up workout routine to you, it would be the "Armstrong Pullup Program". (Type that into google, the program is free :)) It took me from 12 pullups to 21 in just under 2 months. I found that taking 3-4 days rest period was better for me than just the 2 days in a weekend.

Excellent...as a chin-up bar only
OK the price is certainly right so lets keep that in mind. Pros: a. Rock solid mounting in a standard doorway (see assembly) b. Ergonomics are well thought out c. Supports my 185 pound frame well with no noticable frame flex/shift d. No noticable damage to door frame, I plan to buy some felt to cover the wood/wall contact points but it looks ok as is. Cons: a. Hardware - some of the screws/bolts are wrong for this application. I spent about $2.00 extra to buy a couple of new bolts with locking nuts. This is to replace the oddly square headed ones that are supposed to go in the wood portion. I also bought "locking" washers all the way around for all bolts - total cost +2.00. It has been mentioned before that a few of the plastic protective caps are missing - mine was the same case. No big deal here but it is a common complaint. b. It claims to support 300 pounds. I suppose it could "hold" a 300 pounder but to actually do repetitive excersise reps I have my doubts. c. Photo advertising is somewhat misleading. As a chin up bar I give it high marks but the multi function excersises (photos) leave a bit to be desired. Do not plan on using this for much more than its original purpose. DO spend your time to put this together very solid using multiple socket tools and everything should be fine. The "free" shipping to Texas took about 7 days from order.

Works great for me
Edit: Almost 3 years later: I've owned this for almost 3 years now and it's still going strong. I've had no issues with it and it still functions as it should. This thing is easily worth the small price. Edit: Over a year later: I've now owned this for over a year and it's still going strong. I've never had to re-tighten any of the nuts and bolts and it still works just as good as when it was new. -----original review----- Despite some of the negative reviews I ordered this bar anyway. It took me about 10 minutes to put it together, without instructions. Those having trouble must be missing a few brain cells. The quality is good for the price. Not the greatest, but it holds my weight (180 lbs.) just fine, without feeling like it's going to come apart. Having the bar sitting in my doorway is great; Every time I walk by I do 4 chin ups. It's so convenient that you get a workout without thinking about it. It's motivated me to get back into the gym and I've already seen a nice improvement. Using it for deeper push ups is great too. After using it for a week you'll almost double regular push ups.

Could use a little more work...
The Everlast Multi-Function chinning Bar looks like a pretty good idea, however it doesn't seem to hold on to the door frame correctly in any of the houses I've tried this in. Assembling was easy and the nuts, bolts, and washers held pretty well. The main problem has been that the bar seems to tilt at a 45 degree angle causing it to become unstable when lifting one self on it. Also this product is ill advised for those of us that are over a range of 180lb or more since it also causes the door frame to begin to buckle after heavy use. The bar as mentioned in other reviews has an abrasive sand paper pad stuck on there to grip the wall. If my bar would hang correctly on the door frames we've tried so far, it would have abraded the wall surfaces over the door. With the experience myself and my friends have had with since I bought it, It feels really unsafe to use and has on occasion slipped a few times which has led me to give it a low score. The only reason I had not given it a 2 star rating is that it might be designed for more modern architecture that may have heavier door frames and with the correct measurements may actually hang as it was meant to. Also if it did become safer to use it might not be so bad for people under a 200lb+ range of weight. But as for my experience, I'll just keep it tucked away until I can find a door frame I can hang it on or a person who wants it.

Best Chin-up Bar I've ever used
I have been using this item for about the past 5 days and man am I sore. Not only does it allow you to do multiple types of pullups, but it can also be laid on the floor to allow for PERFECT push ups as well. I am 23 years old and have been working out off and on my entire life and I have NEVER done push ups or pull ups that made me so sore or showed results so quickly. I'm not sure why other customers complained about the strength or workmanship of this item, but I can say the my dad who weighs over 260 pounds tried to use it a few days ago and the bar did not budge. I did put a sock around the wooden part that comes in direct contact with the wall because it seemed that the rough surface would probably mess the wall up pretty bad without any covering. I am very pleased with this product so far and recommend it to anyone who really wants to get serious about working their upper body.

Lean Mean
Ive been using this bar now for 2 years, and have nothing better to do atm. Ive never had the bar fall off during a work out, and I do multiple sets of anywere between 20-30 pull ups. Your not supposed to use this product like its a set of monkey bars, your supposed to maintain control when doing pull ups and not pull up as fast and hard as you can, which may cause the bar to come off the door frame. Optimally this should not be possible, but the angle of this bar leaves it slightly tiltded when resting on a door frame ( example the wooden piece that sits above the door will always make an acute angle down about 20 degrees or so from 90 were it should be resting ). If you think about it for more than 5 sec however you come to the conclusion that this is because it makes the bar easy to fit on your door bcause you have to go up an over the frameing to secure it to the door, so short of an adjustable bar that can be shifted inward this is what your stuck with. I do think it would work better if the wooden support piece were shaped better as to fit in that tilted posistion I described, especially considering theres a grip strip down the middle of the upper wood piece that has never come into play, because its always angled away from the wall. It would fit perfetly on deeper door frames, but Ive only used it on my perfectly normal ones. * Note I use this bar on normal interior doorways as well as the smaller interior doorways more common for bathrooms, and it works either way, however in the smaller doorways the metal parts of the bar are in contact with the wood, which will cause some minor damage to the wood. Another more minor issue is that part of the grip padding no longer is stuck in place and moves freely on the bar, but other than that all the nuts and bolts are just fine and the bar is still sturdy. A few minor issues and the one more significant issue, which I would not categorize as major; lead me to rate this product as you see it, cuz it works! its sturdy! but dosent fit quit right...

Wrong screw sizes, ironically box advertises "No screws"
The first time I recieved this product it shipped with the wrong screw sizes. I sent it back and got another one with the exact same problem. The screws are huge, and since the design uses locking nuts you can't completely tighten the bars together making it impossible to use. I suppose you could go buy the right screw sizes (or regular nuts, if you want long screws sticking out all over the place) but I would think anyone buying this would want the right hardware included. In addition, the top piece that sits above the door frame is made of wood. It feels sturdy enough it's just off-putting when the rest of it is black metal. Also, it's either a design flaw or I just got two bad ones, but the foam that wraps around the bars sits too close to the screw holes on the wood piece, and when you tighten the wood piece and the bar together, the foam awkwardly sits about a quarter of the way between the two. I ended up peeling the foam down which worked, but once again it should be right the first time. I shouldn't have to fix this company's mistakes.

Damaged doorway
I purchased this pull-up bar for my at home gym. I wanted something I could remove between workouts as it would be in a shared area. Assembly was simple but the wooden bar with friction tape that rests on the trim was rough and gouged the woodwork. Also I have an older home with wider trim and even with adjustments it wasn't working. I returned this product and bought the fixed type of bar. Basically bad for wider trim or any time you are worried about damaging the door.

Great purchase
I had the intention of purchasing a chinning bar, and I only picked this one up to get free super saver shipping (the bar was not my original purchase intent). Either way, the assembly took about 10 minutes. It would have been nice for the instructions to tell you to tighten the nuts and bolts with the included hex key and spanner, because I'm not sure everyone would realize this was a required step - the nuts are self-locking, and you can't tighten by hand. Outside of the initial assembly, unlike the product that ranks #1 in the chinning bar category on Amazon, the bolts that connect the metal bar and the wood bar together is countersunk, so it doesn't damage your door frame. Super easy to mount, you can use it for ab workouts on the floor as well. I feel like this bar makes my room into a jungle gym, easy to get some exercise in every now and then, keeps me active. Great purchase!

Excellent product let down by marketing
Like all flat pack furniture, a few teething problems with construction. We had no problem constructing this with the bolts provided, unlike some other reveiwers. We did struggle with this for a few hours because the product description failed to mention that a suitable tool to tighten the nuts was not included OR indicate what size of spanners would be needed to assembler the bar. Hoping that two of your standard spanners will put this together will not work, you need a 10 mm spanner & a set of draytons. Be aware there are two different size & shape of bolt & if they are put in the wrong place the bar will not assemble properly.

good
Wasn't what I needed, however worked great for a shorter person. Good product no installation required. Do need to have standard size doors.

Use with care
Great chin bar but use with caution as it can slip from the door frame causing you to fall, i would recommend you fix a bracket for safety as falling from 6+ft onto your back does hurt i can tell you.

Awsome bar and sturdy make-up overall
Awsome bar and sturdy make-up overall. Thank you, now all I need to figure out is how to fix it to the wall because it does make some ''violin music'' while I pull-up against the frame of the door...what I mean is it makes squiky sounds when it rubs the frame, anyways good product!
