I didn't know this was a "DIY" item! Read on and take heed!
I hate to give negative reviews, but this warrants it, The meteorite itself was fine. I definitely wouldn't call if "massive", or even extra large. But it was heavy, and I'm sure it's a real meteorite. I wish the sellers would say what part of the world it was found inMy complaint is with the condition it arrived here in. The meteorite comes in a see through box with a black bottom, and a see through cover. The glue used to hold the rock on the bottom of the case arrived gooey and not dried, so the meteorite came off, and what we saw was an ugly glob of white goo both on the bottom of the case and on the rock itself. The white goo had seeped onto the meteorite and covered a large portion of the meteorite, which is black, so the big glob was highly visual. The protective see-through case also had several globs of goo on it, under it, and inside it. My grandson likes to display things, and there was no way I could give him this in this condition. I worked for two hours to remove the glue from the display case, and finally got most of it removed, but it still had smears on it so that the box is not clear. The box also had a small crack on the top part of the case. Did I mention that the meteorite had come loose from the glue meant to hold it, and there were little pieces of rock inside the case and stuck in the glue? Messy and wasted part of the meteorite by chipping off b/c it was not held down by the glue and must have bounced around inside the case. The next time, I will buy from a different seller who hopefully takes more care of its products.

Great addition to a timeless collection
This Meteorite is nicely large and in good shape with no signs of rust. Only the small bonus one has minor signs of rust.It comes with an identification card with some history about it. For those interested to learn more, I found the following site which gives a very detailed background: campodelcielo.infoThe following facts are quite interesting: "The pure iron asteroid weighed an estimated 800 tons and hailed from the Main Asteroid Belt located between Mars and Jupiter."Having learned more about its origin, I find it even more humbling to hold this Meteorite in my hand. I highly recommend it as an addition to a timeless collection.

Amazing
This meteorite is perfect. The meteorite itself is about 1.5x1.25x.75 inches. It's secured to the base of the plastic display case with white plasti-tak (not chewing gum as some other reviewers claim) which can easily be removed and leaves no sticky residue if you would rather mount it with a magnet, weld it to a metal post, etc. It looks great and shipped fast so I'm very satisfied!
