This drawing was done in 2009 when I was still unsure about whether or not I still wanted to create art. It was a stagnant point in my life, but I wanted to experiment with conte crayon, but also use colored pencil because that is a familiar realm for me. I also wanted a break from drawing faces, and decided to create a still-life, which is a rarity for me after school. I wanted to use color in small amounts that accentuated certain parts of the drawing and allow the viewer's eyes to travel around the page, and I wanted a piece of the drawing to exit the plane of the picture and pull the viewer into a beautiful, calm piece. It was created by using black and white conte crayons for the dark areas and reflections respectively. Yellow Prismacolor colored pencil was used for the perfume bottle. Pink Prismacolor colored pencil was used for the end of the brush and the pink lipstick. Red Prismacolor colored pencil was used for the red lipstick and the handle of the makeup brush. This was all done on grey Mi-Teintes pastel paper to automatically create the medium grey tone of the drawing. It is a square 19.5x19.5 in. drawing. This piece is signed on the back by the artist. Drawn with love by Krysta Logan.
