Andaz Apna Apna

A funny and delightful light hearted film.
This film was made in 1994, so keep in mind it is an older film. However, the situational comedy is still funny. Two guys from a poor village set out to try a marry a rich woman. Unfortunately, the rich woman and her father are being targeted for harm by a local crime boss. The situational comedy comes from the two different groups interrupting each other's plans toward the rich woman and her father. This film is one of Salman Khan's best comedic performances. His recent films are action and drama films, so it was a delight to see a light hearted comedy performance. Even thougt, it is one if Salman Khan's early films you can see his "spark" of talent that would make him one of the all time best in Bollywood films.Overall, this film is a delightful comedy romance which can be enjoyed by the entire family. ๐

Silly, Charming, Forgettable
Young con-men Prem (Salman Khan) and Amar (Aamir Khan) both set out to woo and win the same rich girl, but comic complications arise. (Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor also star.)Watching this movie is like watching an episode of the Monkees: it is ridiculously silly, and yet has it's own sweet charm. Sadly, the musical numbers do not add anything to it, the plot is predicable, and the humor gets tedious at times. While it's a cute movie, it's best watched in small doses and with the understanding that, in the end, it's not particularly memorable.

Cult movie of cheesy and goofy genre
Best in class cheesy movie. If you have to make a great comedy from complete nonsense, then this is it. It is so goofy that it is brilliant. Also, unless you understand Hindi a lot comedy may be lost. All the melodrama is so bad that itโs really good. Originally flopped but become a cult movie over time

Hilarious Spoof
This movie should not, under any circumstances be taken seriously. It's completely daft, utterly ridiculous and profoundly silly, but really good fun. If it doesn't make you laugh, I'll eat my hat! Songs are nice too; what more could you possibly want?! Just can't help myself--really like this movie. Even though a few of the jokes whizzed over my head as I'm not all that familiar with older Indian movies, I still really enjoyed it. It gets funnier the more times you watch it too, so good value for money!

This is by far the best movie I have seen
This is by far the best movie I have seen. In today's age of cheap humor this is amovie without any cheap humors and in fact all the characters are so brilliantly written. The other movie where even the supporting actors were given their due and still remember by avid movie lovers is most likely Sholay.

10 years later and still laughed my guts off
I've seen this movie many times so I am biased. Purchased DVD so I could introduce my American friends to slapstick Bollywood. It's a funny movie and the DVD/print quality is pretty good.

Solid Gold Silliness
This is rapid-fire loony tunes humor at its most absurd--and I mean that in the best possible sense. Aamir's flawless comic timing and Salman's free-form goofiness are a killer combination. The entire supporting cast is first-rate, notably Paresh Rawal. Three of the four songs are reasonably catchy, while the other is high on the list of funniest musical sequences I've ever seen. Although the English subtitles don't do full justice to the dialog, the physical comedy, sight gags, and sound effects keep the scenes moving at full speed. You really have to see this movie to believe it, and it only gets funnier with repeated viewings.

Problem infested Blu-ray transfer....
Andaz Apna Anpa is a slapstick comedy which has become a cult classic. This review is not about the movie itself but about the Blu-ray.This Blu-ray is cleaned-up and up-scaled to hi-def but with deterring issues which are very much noticeable while watching the movie...1. The long-shots are over brightened to the point that they start looking hazy2. Some scenes appear blurred e.g. the opening shot where Amir Khan comes riding a cycle. Once again this is noticeable in long shots almost through the entire movie. Close-ups are decent. However, some close-ups with multiple characters in frame are inconsistent in clarity. Conclusion is that the picture quality is not consistent3. The picture is cropped at the bottom and the right edge. In the police station scene, Tiku Talsania is almost out of the frame. Likewise Amir Khan, after the song Dil Karta Hai where he is lying down pretending as if fainted, is out of the frame. Similar noticeable accidents occur in other shots too. This comparison was done frame to frame with DVD (from Eros - USA). Seems the Blu-ray has magnified the picture slightly but kept the same aspect ratio and hence cropped the picture.4. The sound is not re-mixed to 5.1. Its same old mono sound from center-front speaker. But that's the case with almost all Blu-rays of old Hindi movies5. There is Ultra's watermark on the right hand corner of the screen throughout the movie. Now this is a sacrilege for a Blu-ray coz Blu-rays are hi-def, expensive, and near theatre like viewing!! But then many sacrileges have been committed here...After watching this Blu-ray, I simply feel money is wasted. The attempt made by Ultra has gone down the drain. I do not believe that the source material would've been problematic. So this Blu-ray needs a review, rework, and re-release.
