Q: How can i get these to stay in place when my child puts his foot in his cleat? I have tried a shoe horn even and the side or back slides down?

You will have to undo the laces fairly far. The put shoe horn on back edge of insert to keep it in place when inserting foot.

I'm 300 lbs. Large works for me. But I use size 12.
