Kanthal A1-100' - 22 Gauge Resistance Wire

This wire has withstood a high fire glaze run at Cone 10 when I've used it for ceramics. It does discolor some but the portion outside the clay does not melt/break during the firing. I find it suitable for jewelry as a finding or hanging pieces from firing fixtures when you want to glaze all but the hole.

I've only used a short portion so far, but it has performed just as I expected it to. Using it to soften plexiglass so that it can be bent 90 degrees. With the right voltage and current running through it, it heats up the area to be bent just as it should. I used a spring on one end to maintain tension on the wire, keeping it straight. Happy so far.

This works perfectly for making ceramic earrings as it can be fired along with the ceramic. I cut and make little "U" shapes that I push into the wet clay to be what will connect to the ear wires after firing. Be careful when opening this as it will completely unwind. I have no idea how to prevent such a wild happening!

My husband uses this product for his glass working. It is the perfect gauge to work with his sculptural creations.
