I returned my Olympus recorder because I needed something a little smaller and thinner. This is VERY thin and very small. Solid looking, really looks extremely cool, feels of high quality, works very well, has incredible voice quality and clarity. The screen is easy to view and clear. This thing is great. Im not computer savvy and although this is probably very easy for a 25 year old to work flawlessly, it's just a slight bit challenging at first to negotiate the menus and I still can't quite figure out how to delete recordings.Again, this is easy to use overall. Recording something is very simply, one button to push. Stopping it is easy. Getting to save recording is easy. I was even able to connect it easily to my computer and transfer the recordings. I can't believe it actually worked. so easily to download. I accidentally deleted an important recording but I had it saved on my computer so I wasn't concerned. I just played the meeting on my computer and let it re-record on the recorder. Im not sure if I can move the recording from the computer back to the recorder via USB connector without just playing it on my computer out loud to re-record it to recorder. This is small enough to actually keep in my wallet to take to meetings if I need to record a meeting or seminar. Overall I love this thing and for the price it's a steal. You won't be disappointed even with the few minor negatives that some people might experience in the learning curved. A little practice and it is a great recorder.

By first appearance it's a lot tinier than I actually thought it would be once I actually got it in my hand (but that's actually a plus for me with all the equipment I carry around). I was checking and testing it out I love the features on it, it's simplistic and easy to use (as a tech geek it's the easiest device I've found to operate without having to go into umpteen different menus and half the time devices shutting off on their own), the recordings are crystal clear and I love that it has the sound levels for the right and left side speakers should be neat to see it work in the paranormal field. plus it just looks awesome haha!! As you may have guessed I'm a paranormal investigator and was searching for a new digital recorder and this was one of the top ones recommended on a paranormal gear site form that I use. So I thought it was high time to upgrade my tape recorder to a digital recorder. I am very excited to use this on my next investigation in the fall! I will update my review once I use it in the field!

DOES NOT WORK! Won't even power on. I've tried charging for a long time though there is no indication if it got charged or not since the screen is completely dark, I've tried the hard power on and off, and soft power on and off. NOTHING works. It flickered for a second and the screen lit up but then died. UPDATED REVIEW: The first recorder I received did not work. But Dictopro was really quick to resolve the issue. Within minutes of my posting the above review, I got emails, calls/voicemail and a few text messages apologizing for the defective product. Once I reached out to them, they swiftly sent a replacement product. Customer service was very efficient (a little too persistent, but in the end, glad it worked out). The replacement product works, and I ordered two pieces in my original order - the other piece worked as well. The working recorder is great - works well even in high-noise surroundings, it's easy to transfer files to your computer as MP4 files. I would like to mention that this is the ONLY reasonably priced voice recorder that allows you to both charge and transfer files through the USB cord. I did a lot of research and most of the recorders, which were price under $70-$80 are only chargeable through AAA batteries, which makes them a huge pain to work with. This one both charges and transfers files through USB which is a big plus. There are some user-unfriendly quirks with this recorder, which make it a little hard to use -- like hard up-down button that needs to be used for everything, including changing the volume - the volume button is not a toggle, it's a straight button - you click on it and then adjust the volume with the up-down button. Also the up-down button is what you use to make selections on the screen-- so it's hard to tell what has been selected. The button just highlights the action you want, but you cannot always tell if said action has been selected. The screen is not very quick to respond, and sometimes it's hard to tell if the device is charging when it's plugged in because the screen doesn't always give an indication. Other than all these quirks, it's a decent recorder, especially for the price.

It works well. I tested recording, saving, deleting, and copying to the computer. Everything functions as it should. The item is quite small but the internal microphone did a good job on the recording. The internal speakers are horrible just like a cell phone's speakers, but when copied to the computer and played, the recording sounded great. I cannot speak to durability since I just got the item, but it looks to be a solidly built product, and reasonably priced.

Update: The replacement that was sent worked fine. I put it away for the next season of work that would be months away. When the time came to use it for the first time it was completely inoperative. This is really poor product! The original recorder I purchased failed before I had a chance to use it. It worked fine but I had it for a year before using it. I tested it again before taking it out on the job and found it no longer worked. I got it working again with only minor success and so posted a negative review. HOWEVER service reps from Treblab Support quickly contacted me and offered to replace the entire unit at no charge. It arrived quickly and I am very happy with this device. It is easy to use, extremely compact and I love the heavy durable feel of it. I use it to make quick notes on field biology observations and data, so I need a device that is as small as can be but will hold up when out in the elements where it is likely to get rough treatment at times. The recordings are very clear. I restore full 5 star status to this product based on the company's eagerness to make things right but only after giving the new recorder a long in-depth testing in the deserts of New Mexico and Arizona. I give the company the benefit of the doubt BUT I am hoping this device will work reliably for a few years.

I'm rating this product a 4 star just because I have not had the opportunity to test it in a class setting g yet which is the reason I purchased. Did test at home while the tv was loud and recorded a conversation then playing it back and ypu could not hear the tv at all. I like the fact that it eliminates background noises. I also really like the look and the size of this product it's not bulky and easy to use. The screen is clear not blurry and you can even listen to music on it. I feel it's a good product therefore a good purchase for me. Delivery was on time and prompt. The only negative is that the package of the recorder was all damaged but the amazon box was intact. Just hoping it does not stop working on me when I need it most due to unknown damage from seller. Update: 07-21-16 so I went ahead and used this product for what I purchased it for and that was to record some daily lectures for about a month as I was attending class. Let me just say that the product is just ok I would not give it a 5 star. Simply because i found it difficult to go back to a particular lecture and if you pressed the wrong button it made it even more difficult to go back to that particular spot or lecture you wanted to hear. Also, rewinding I did not find helpful on this product just too much work to find a specific part of the lecture. Volume on this is not good at all...I sat in the front of the class room because I knew I was going to record the lecture and there were some instructors that spoke loud others that spoke in low tones even with a mic on them and this product did not deliver in that department. Also half way through the month there was no more room to record in the middle of a lecture and found myself fumbling for a back up plan which was my phone. So lesson learned this product is not good for lengthy speeches or lectures over a period of time. Also product is way too expensive on this site when Walmart has a Sony recorder the same size for half the price.

First off I was so surprised at the size of the X100 and then work so well. After looking at the instructions I was sure I would never get it to work because of the type being so small. Really had a hard time reading and trying to operate the recorder at the same time. However I found the Users Manuel on the web site and that made setting up the X100 a breeze. After making a few test recording and play back I was on my way to having fun and enjoying how well this recorder worked. I did a 15 minute Ham Radio conversation and the clarity of my comments and the other operators that were having a normal chat time was amazing. I was astonished of how well the recording volume playback was. I noticed immediately noticed the recorder adjusted the audio with my voice and the operators on the radio. I'm still learning so there is a lot of fun ahead. Outstanding digital voice recorder. Recommend getting this if you have a need of a recorder. Small but powerful. I did not rate the battery quality because I have not used it enough to give the battery a test, but if it is the same quality as the recorder i'm sure its going to be just fine.

I've only had this recorder for a week or two and have begun using it to "jot down" creative writing ideas or snippets when they pass through my head, which is the specific reason why I bought it. It's small enough to fit in the palm of my hand and it's built solidly, unlike previous recorders I've had that were so lightweight that they seemed (and were) fragile. This recorder feels anything but fragile. Also, I have found it easy to use, even without reading the instruction booklet--Just imagine what I might learn if I DID read it! Maybe I will one of these days, but it's already doing for me what I wanted it to do in the first place, so I haven't bothered. The only reason that I didn't give a rating for battery life is that I don't feel I've been using it long enough to have an opinion about that. But other than that, this recorder gets 5 stars all around.

Nach ein bisschen Bekanntmachen mit dem Gerät fand ich die Bedienung ganz einfach. Kann in der Hosentasche liegen und zeichnet alles in guter Qualität auf. Ich habe früher mit meinem Handy aufgenommen, aber da geht schon ganz schnell der Akku leer, dieses Diktiergerät hilft mir jetzt aber wieder aus. Das Übertragen der Aufnahmen auf den PC geht ganz einfach und die Audiodateien werden ganz praktisch automatisch beschriftet. Ist sehr handlich und gut verarbeitet.

Box content is usual for such sort of things - recorder itself, USB cable (made of soft plastic, looks good), and cheap headphones. No charger or any extra things to record the phone line etc. The recorder body is made of some metal alloy, it`s rather heavy and feels quite sturdy, so I won`t be afraid to drop it accidentally. User Manual says the recorder must be charged before using, but the thing came fully charged, so I could test it at once. Recording quality is good with default settings, the only reason to change the recording settings is to try to increase recording length. Playback quality is not bad at all, exactly what one could expect from a tiny speaker confined in such a small body. Headphones sound is enough to recognize speech, but not more. Headphones are obviously cheap with flat sound, but with my own quite decent headphones I got good sound, really close to the original voice of a person I recorded for testing. I believe music is good too. My verdict - get good headphones to the thing and it will do well for all your needs.
