I am enjoying my new Casper sleep element bed. It is very comfortable and just soft enough to sleep on my side without any discomfort. Thank you for such a quality product at a reasonable price.

Long review incoming, but worth it if you're as deep into mattress research as I was. A few weeks ago, we bought a new mattress (different brand) from Amazon and it was a total flop. It didn't expand to even half its size and it was incredibly uncomfortable. Amazon Customer Service was AMAZING, so though we were frustrated with the fact that the mattress didn't work out, dealing with returning/refunds and all that was a breeze. Fast forward to last week, and my boyfriend and I are researching mattresses like we're becoming experts in the field. I'd looked into the other one we got fairly well, it had over 90% 5-star ratings, but it was awful. We had our old queen mattress stacked on top of our new king frame, and we were staying up until 10 or 11 at night just researching mattresses. I didn't know what reviews to trust because so many brands had a high number of five star reviews, but the same was true for the first mattress we bought and it turned out to be a mistake. We decided we'd try one more time, and then if we ran into similar issues, we'd just deal with that mattress until COVID restricts were lessened/lifted and we felt comfortable going directly to a mattress store and buying something direct. We searched for hours, read articles, read reviews both on and off Amazon, did BBB searches and got word of mouth reviews, and everything led us back to Casper as a potentially trustworthy brand to invest in. So we gave it a shot. Our mattress arrived today, and though we haven't slept on it yet, we're already much happier with what we received. Within minutes of unpacking it, it'd already expanded to about 8/10 inches, and now it's sitting at just shy of the 10, only a few hours after unpacking. I've seen people complaining about the mattress being lopsided, curved corners, not expanding, etc. and we haven't had ANY of those issues. I laid on it for a little bit just to see how it felt and it's heavenly. It springs back and has got give, but it's not too soft. I would say that "medium firm" is a good description for this bed. Not too soft/hard in my opinion. I know people report that it's comfy at first, but gets worse so I'm planning to update my review in a month or two with an update to see if the same happens to us. Now, the smell. This is where you can believe what you read, this bed does come with a pretty bad off gassing smell. I was able to smell it just as my bf brought it up the stairs, and he hadn't even removed it from the bag yet. Once he pulled it off, the smell got noticeably worse and we were able to smell it from my office which is kiddy-corner to our bedroom. We opened the bedroom window in order to help air it out some. I will say this, it isn't a rancid smell, like something you can't be around, it's just not a great smell. It puts me in the mind of the back corner of a warehouse or a dank basement where all the stuff is shoved that no one has touched in MONTHS. It's strong, but it comes and goes, and like I said, it's not like smelling trash or sewage backup or something that would make your stomach turn, it's just unpleasant. I sprayed some smell good stuff in the hallway outside my office and I can barely smell it now. If you have a candle or incense or something, plan to use it if you sit close to this bed. The weird thing is, when I went and actually laid on the bed, I couldn't really smell it a whole lot. It's definitely going away, but it is pretty bad out of the box. I'm prepared to upgrade this review from four to five stars if I find that it A. remains comfortable. B. the smell goes away, and C. expands this last inch to get to its full height. My hope is that I will be diligent enough to update this review in a month or two and then again in six to eight months with how its holding up. I know mattresses are supposed to last much longer, but if we can just get a good year out of it until we can actually go and test some mattresses in person (and maybe spend a little more on a really good one), I'll be happy. I realize that's low standards, but you have to have them sometimes when you're buying blind on the internet. Here's to updating again soon!

This is the first mattress i have ever purchased and i have to say that I'm happy with what i got it arrived in a box about 4 feet tall and was vacuum sealed and rolled up, once you get it out of the packaging let it air out for at least 12 hours mine smelt a little strange but it went away very quickly. I weigh 145 lbs and I'm 5'10 i normally sleep on my side or stomach and i find this mattress to be medium firm which is good for me since I have back problems and need comfort but don't want to sacrifice support while on a budget. This mattress does not need a box spring and i don't use one with it but it says you can if you prefer to use one. I got the queen size and its a nice step up from a full mattress i have a partner i sleep with when they come over and he finds it very comfortable as well. I'm just gonna be honest it doesn't creek and make a lot of noise when we have sex like a mattress with bed springs does It's nice since i have a roommate. When i get out of bed i don't wake him up either the mattress doesn't transfer movement that shakes the bed or makes it move a lot. I would recommend this mattress is you are on a budget it feels like a high quality mattress for an affordable price.

Had this mattress for about a year without issue. It was decent to sleep on, nothing super fantastic, but definitely not painful or uncomfortable. Then I spilled some soda on the bed, so I unzipped the mattress cover to throw it in the washing machine. What was supposed to be a convenient benefit of this mattress turned out to be my worst nightmare. There's a fiberglass layer used as a fire retardant just underneath. It's supposed to be kept safe from spilling out in a "fire sock" but over time this can apparently wear out and the fiberglass will break apart inside the mattress cover. These shards are very small and if you don't have a light pointed at them, very easily missed. By the time I realized, I was already going to put the now "clean" mattress cover back on after pulling it out of the dryer. Fiberglass in my washer and dryer, all over my bedframe, the walls, the floors, my clothes, curtains, pictures, carpet, everything you can imagine, I found fiberglass there. It's in the air and been circulating around my house. I've gone through hell for a week trying to clean it up, breathing this stuff in, had to buy special equipment and I'm still struggling to get it all. NOWHERE is fiberglass mentioned in the description on Amazon for this mattress, and the manufacturer doesn't just go out of their way to give up this information when asked. Google search Casper mattress and fiberglass, I'm not the first person this has happened to, and won't be the last. Can it be okay as long as you don't take the cover off? Maybe, but do you really want to risk it? There's probably going to be a class-action lawsuit over this, run away! Get something without toxic materials if you can, I'm switching to a Nolah mattress myself.

I’ve waited a bit to give this mattress a fair review. I bought this mattress back in 2023. 3 years later…. Here‘s the scoop on my Casper Element. When I first got the mattress & unboxed it, it took a few weeks (about 2 if I recall) for it to plump back to its intended shape. I didn’t mind that it took a little while for it to fully expand because it did not affect the comfort (2 corners took a while to fully expand) The one thing that DID take a while was the smell “off-gassing” of the foams. While not terribly to smell it is a poignant odoriferous laboratory sterile smell. The good news is that this too shall pass, with the diligent use of Fabreeze every time the sheets were changed (about 2-3 times per week) OK, now for the review of comfort. This mattress has surpassed my view of comfort. It is the most comfortable mattress I’ve ever laid in. So comfortable, that I am buying a second Casper for our family vacation home. It is quiet, offers the support I was looking for (medium firm) has retained its shape, comfort, and good esthetics from day one. It’s light enough (68# in queen size) that I can flip & turn it with ease by myself. Thank you Casper for making such a wonderful product to rest my bones in.
