Warm, waterproof boots for the wet, snowy and muddy ground.
Waterproof, comfortable boots for winter. These boots have a removable and washable felt lining which keep your feet really warm, even when walking in deep snow. The liners come completely out of the boots with a light pull at the top- they are so good at keeping your feet warm that I have even been know to wear them as slippers when it’s cold in the house. The boots have a rubber base part and a waterproof, close weave nylon top part, they come up above your ankle by a few inches. The tongue is attached at the sides so as to make sure that there is no inlet for water.Trousers can sit on the top of the boots to keep them clear of water and they won’t look stupid, in dryer areas trousers can cover the boot top to make them look like shoes. The lacing system is a large loop design, it’s quick to fasten and unfasten, however, the laces are quite slippy and are prone to coming undone so I would advise double bowing them.Sizing wise, if you are between sizes go for the larger size - if you’re a 91/2 but some 9’s fit go for a 10. I found the boots fit me true to size, I normally wear a 9 and the 9 fits fine with no breaking in required, I wore normal socks rather than thick ones as the felt liner deals with the cold and padding out the boot, so thick walking socks simply aren’t needed under this. The sole is rubber and has an ok grip, not as good as walking boots but better than cheap wellies.I would happily recommend these boots.

So far, so very good
I ordered these to go on an Arctic cruise, which will be the real test. In the meantime, I have been wearing them out walking to "break them in" and so far, so very good.I have size 12 feet, wider than average and I ordered a size 13 to accommodate thick socks, such as these: https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0184H8VCY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1or these: https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000P8D40A/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1The fit is good and the felt inner boot seems to mould to fit your foot over a few wears and they have been comfortable walking on footpaths etc for an hour or two at a time. (I can't say what they would be like over a longer period as I haven't tried that). The weather in the UK over the last few weeks has been pretty mild for the time of year so I haven't really tested the warmth of the boot, they give every impression of being warm, especially with the right socks worn underneath. The size 13 would have been too large with "normal" cotton socks but I think that if you are wearing "normal" cotton socks you probably aren't in an environment where these boots are necessary. The soles are quite thick and, with the frost plugs (ridges on the sole), you should get a reasonable distance between your foot and any frozen ice or snow underfoot. The true test will come in the Arctic in a few weeks time!

EU sizing so check the sizing conversion
If ordering in UK sizes check the sizing conversion, I ordered UK size 12 but they were too small. When I checked I realised it was because the sizes are EU sizes and their conversion to uk aren’t quite right so make sure you check. The quality seemed great though so no issues with the boots themselves just the sizing listed.

Perfect for raynauds sufferers
I have wanted a pair of these boots for ages. The mens ones were a better offer on Black Friday so they are the ones I opted for. When I first put them on they felt a bit too snug across the top of my foot but they are fine now. I probably could have gone down a size (I am a half size so it's always gamble what way shoes will go but generally 6 is the size that fits me best) but that does mean I could wear thicker socks if needed. That being said they are still perfectly comfortable when wearing just tights and don't run anywhere at all.My feet feel so snug in these and definitely better than wellies for winter. Perfect for dog walking and exploring the country park. I can now still feel my toes at the end of a walk which is amazing as I have raynauds. And if we ever get snow I can tell these will be perfect.

Real winter boots
Love these boots and the brand generally. They are sturdy, waterproof, good looking and warm. Take it from a Canadian, these boots can handle real winter conditions.

Thin and no shape
Would be 3 star but for the elevated Sorel price I'm giving 2 star:The Nylon upper material is very thin and provides no structure, the only real structure of the boot is from the inner removable thermal felt lining. After two minutes of trying these on I could feel them loosing shape and have even creased above the heal, which I could feel folding into the back of my leg and would inevitably rub. Perhaps this crease has built up from being tried on by more than just me for two minutes but still. The thermal lining has a long slit down the front of the boot which kind of leaves an uninsulated strip at the front of your foot. It wouldn't be so bad if the outer material had any thickness to it but the tongue provides no insulation. And as far as snow boot design goes I can't imagine the shallow toothed sole providing any real grip.Sorel's more expensive leather based models probably solve a lot of these issues but I am going for a Mountain Wharehouse model that is cheaper and better than this one I am reviewing.
