Incredible tool!
This tool is simply awesome! I have an older single speed one that I keep in my Jeep tool box and wanted one for the garage as well. This thing seriously outperforms the older, single speed model and I love that thing. I wasn't sure whether I would use the various speeds but last night while working on the Jeep I ended up using the slow speed and the high speed so it has proven it's purpose. The high speed setting is ridiculously fast and powerful. I had the lug nuts off both of my vehicles in seconds and back on as quickly. I am going to have to cautiously test the power of the high speed setting though with some spare nuts and bolts because it set my lug nuts to right about 90 ft/lbs. My older model will set them well also but I only had to turn the torque wrench about 10 degrees to hit 100 ft/lbs. The slow speed setting (which is still a decent speed) doesn't apply near the torque and was perfect for setting small 10mm bolts. There is a different feel when setting bolts at slow speeds as the tool feels like it stalls once the nuts/bolts are set. This is a good thing, just different that the higher speed settings where it impact drives after the nuts/bolts are set. The quality of the tool is excellent as one would expect from DeWalt. One of the most notable improvements is the brushless design that, I swear, doesn't use any battery power at all. My batteries seem to last forever and I use this (and my older model 20V brushless driver) nearly daily. They could probably make the unit solar powered and save the batteries completely. The one most notable improvement over the previous 20V brushless driver is that the knurled lock for the driver bits it more pronounced and easier to use when wearing gloves to swap out bits. I would most definitely buy this product again!

Best Driver Ever Made, Period.
This is an improvement over the 885 model which I thought was excellent until this one came out. Absolutely love it! Delivers more power than my first one. 3 speeds and I find I can do most things on #2 speed. #1 is for gentle jobs, and #3 (highest) is for removing sockets and lug nuts. Strong 3 bulb LEDs light up your work, from all sides. When I use my older 885 Drill, it has only 1 light on top and you really need 3 lights for better visibility. I would buy the 887 Drill as well, but its too pricey. It feels easy to hold just a tad heavier than my older 885 model, but much more functionality. Summary: 3 LED lights for great visibility. 3 variable power speeds which is very handy. Quick release chuckless bit holder. Powerful. Not heavy which is great for smaller hands. Has worked for 5 yrs and no issues.

Screws so well it could own an adult website
I was naive in the world of drills, miserably and unknowing trudging through life using cheap regular drills. Stripping screws and crying myself to sleep (unrelated). But I began hearing whispers of something better. After perusing a dozen forums about hammer drills and getting distracted by tornado videos for an hour, I found out this is a good bang for your buck. Cheap enough that my wife won't make me look for money under vending machines. Quality enough that using the drill won't make me want to use it on myself. It's does everything a drill should do.. .drill, and it even makes a cool sound at the end. Secret bonus??? Long story short, good buy

Excellent Performance for DIY Projects
The DEWALT 20V MAX XR Impact Driver (DCF887B) has exceeded my expectations in every way during my DIY testing. What stands out most is its power and efficiency. The brushless motor delivers consistent torque across three speed settings, allowing me to tackle a variety of tasks from driving screws into tough materials to delicate assembly work without a hitch. One thing to note is its compact size, which makes it incredibly maneuverable in tight spaces. However, the trade-off is a slightly heavier weight compared to smaller models, which can be noticeable during prolonged use. I've used this impact driver extensively for building shelves, assembling furniture, and even light automotive work. The LED lights around the chuck are a thoughtful addition, illuminating the work area well, especially in dimly lit corners. In summary, if you're searching for a powerful, reliable impact driver for your DIY projects, the DEWALT DCF887B is a top contender. Its robust performance and ergonomic design make it a valuable addition to any toolkit, ensuring efficiency and precision with every use.

This thing is a beast
well first off i bought this to replace my 12v black and decker matrix because the battery life on those is absolutly pathetic. This thing is a beast, its compact, light weight, and the power it has is very very impressive. The only reason i rated it 4 stars is because i feel like 2nd gear could be more evenly split between 1st and 3rd. But in 3rd gear this thing broke my 3/8 square adaptor from ace. I upgraded to the dewalt 3/8 square adaptor and it seems to hold up alot better. Edit: well ive had this gun for a while now, still performing flawlessly. Im not sure why but it seems to have a problem with the 3/8 square adaptor. Ive broke 4 of them so far, ive tried ace brand x2, dewalt, and some amazon 99 cent special adaptor. I have no clue why but i have yet to break a 1/2 or 1/4 adaptor with it. None the less i wouldnt let that stop you from buying it because its a very handy tool. It goes to work with me every day, gets used ever day, and i have yet to find anything i dont love about it. It does have the power to break lug nuts loose, ive torqued them to 140ft lb and thats about its limit which is right on spec with the discription. I have since found that the performax brand 3/8 adaptors are pretty good. They still break but they are only 99cents so i usually grab about 5 at a time and keep them in my toolbox at work and i have yet to break one in the 2 weeks ive been using it. Update: It died this past week, not sure what the problem is but it just doesn't work. Its 4+ years old and WELL used though so ill order another.

Absolute workhorse
I used this to drive through sistered studs and beams width (in this case, 4" or so) using a 1" spade drill bit. I ran the driver on 3 and once it got to driving, it's incredible what kind of power it can put through to make the spade travel. I am very new to DIY and wanted a respectable but reasonably priced impact driver, and I certainly think I got my money's worth with this model. Shipping was very quick from Las Vegas to New York. It shipped same day which was impressive. Helpful that they're 3 hours behind so there was plenty of time in the business day to prep and ship the thing. I bought it on Amazon as it was a bit cheaper than Home Depot. I was using a 2.0 AH battery which came with my 20V XR drill. I will say that the body definitely got warm and stayed that way for a while after driving down into studs back to back with this thing. That probably is to be expected though. I'm not highly acquainted with power tools. All in all, I definitely recommend.

Still my favorite power tool after more than a year of use!
I love this driver so much I bought 3 of them (so far). Our crew uses them for almost everything, so I may buy more. We drive screws with it, drill holes, drive lag screws and tighten nuts onto carriage bolts. The get used so much, it's the tool of choice when we're building wheelchair ramps. The only time I prefer a drill to drill holes is when it's a really big hole or I need a hammer drill for concrete. Small holes in the end of deck boards to prevent splitting are much easier with this. It's so light, and even the light 2.0 Ah battery lasts forever. The DCF887 has the brushless motor for more power and less maintenance. It has TONS of power. We don't use nails in our ramps, only screws--so it gets a workout. I bought the kit that came with the charger and two 2.0Ah batteries (and case). I also bought several other bare DeWalt 20v tools, but decided to try Enegitech batteries, since they were so much less expensive. After more than a year, I'm sold on generic batteries, so save your money. Shop carefully, though; prices are all over the map. They are 5.0Ah batteries, and although I usually stick with the smaller DeWalt 2.0Ah that came with my kit (they're lighter so the driver is a little more balanced that way and much easier for smaller people to use), if I don't have a charged 2.0Ah ready, I just pop in the 5.0Ah and it runs forever. For my usage, I almost always keep the driver set on the middle power setting: 2. When set on 1, it doesn't have enough power to drive most screws for me, but if I need precision, it's a good way to get a screw started. However, after some experience, I find I can handle everything I need to do on 2. A bigger lag bolt might require 3, but not often. On 3, it's too easy to drive the screw halfway through the board if you're not careful. 2 is perfect for most of my requirements. Having a magnetic attachment is handy to hold your screws. I haven't found one I love yet. But for driving screws, I can't recommend this highly enough. You will love it! I strongly advise spending a bit more on this brushless one over the brush versions. More powerful and longer lasting.

Powerful durable compact driver
It’s the best tool I’ve ever had I thought impact drivers are not necessary to have . But this dewalt impact driver is game changer that really is much important than regular drills

Great Brand.
I enjoy the XR series of Dewalt tools. They are just next level to me. I hope to own the entire XR series of hand powered tools one day. The impact I bought is great. There are 3 speeds to select from which is awesome. It is also brushless which means one less thing to break down and you don't lose any power. I will probably get the atomic version for it's compactness but I will wait till it's on sale like this one was when I purchased it. I actually bought two. One I gifted and the other I kept. Don't hesitate, buy it. You won't regret it. I paired it with a 5ah battery. Overpowered now.
