New Balance 812s
I've been wearing these NB shoes for about one year now and would like to provide some feedback. They still are very comfortable shoes and I wear them almost every day at some point. The only complaint that I have with these, and other NB shoes is that you cannot keep the shoe clean below the leather. Another words, most, if not all athletic shoes, are wrapped around using the same material that the bottom of the shoe is made of. This material yellows after time and to keep it white, like the rest of the shoe, is near impossible. I have spoken to NB a number of times and they suggest using dawn liquid, or soft scrub, or cleaning wipes, etc. but nothing really works well. Remember when we use to put our dirty sneakers in the wash? They would come out white as new. Well, you can't do that with NB shoes and besides, they still do not come clean around the edges of the shoe if you decide to put them through a wash cycle. That's it! Nice shoes...hard to keep completely clean.

Excellent American Made Walking Shoe
I have been wearing New Balance walking shoes for several years now. The quality is always superb. These American Made 812s replace the 811 model that was also made in USA. The 812 seems to differ from the 811 only in some minor style changes, except that the sole does look different. There are no other American made athletic shoes that I know of. These shoes have the look of leather but are actually all man made materials. But they don't get hot as might be expected from synthetic shoes. I walk about 3 miles per day and my 811s show very little wear. I bought these 812s to replace an even older pair that is wearing out so I can continue to switch shoes each day.The 811/812 model has a lot of high tech features that aid in walking . They are very cushioned so that my feet don't get tired at all. The roll bar helps prevent twisting the shoe and landing awkwardly. I have a tendency to twist my ankles but with these that almost never happens. To sum up, great fit, very comfortable, long wearing and excellent for walking. I recommend them.

Very comfortable, stable, and light weight, black is usable for work,
These are some of my favorite work shoes ever. Yes New Balance thankfully on the black did not make the N stand out and they are more than acceptable at my work place. I am glad because they are very comfortable. I walk a decent amount during the work day and they are so lightweight I hardly know they are on. But they give good cushioning and support as well. The D are perhaps slightly narrow. But they expanded in no time and are now very comfortable. If you can find San Antonio Shoes or SAS shoes were you live, be sure to try those. They are made in the USA by a small company and are a little pricey. But they are very well made. Well made enough that I had leg pain once in a very standing intensive job on a hard floor and they made the pain go away. Short of those, these are a great buy.

Try a little harder, US workers
I bought these because I know how it feels to have one's job given away to the lowest bidder. Ironically, these shoes produce almost the same feeling.I'll agree that they're good, stable walking shoes, but my feet start to hurt as soon as I sit down. The shoes feel empty and flat, but the addition of a third-party insole (the same one I've used for all my previous shoes) turns them into unbearable torture devices. While I'm standing, all seems well. When I'm off my feet, the shoes seem to bite into them.I realize that everyone has a "problem" foot, but it really seems like the left and right shoes were made under different quality standards, and the left one is definitely worse than the right. The tongue of the left shoe never stays in place and its seams push into my foot minutes after I try to correct the placement. I'm forced to lace them loosely, constantly adjust the tongue of the left shoe, and deal with the back pain that my third-party insoles were once able to eliminate.I bought a size 4E pair because my last NB shoes were 4E. Maybe I should have chosen 6E, but I'm not going to waste more money to find out.

the best shoes i have ever had
the best shoes i have ever had. and i am 69 years old. i did not have shoes until i was 12, so i have very wide feet. in the past, to get the width i need, it was always get a shoe a couple sizes bigger. the ONLY time i actually got a perfect size, was when i was in the army. the supply sgt was ecstatic, he said my size had been on his shelf for about 3 years, and no one had that size. those boots fit excellent. now i have a different brand, which were a good fit, so i ordered these shoes in the same size, 8, width 4e. way too tight. then i saw it also came in 6e, so that is what i have. also, the heel is not as tall, it is kinda like walking barefoot on the beach, which i did a lot of when i was younger. very comfortable.

I just got them, good shoes
I got them because they are ade in USA ! I got the rite size/width ! I never looked at wider shoes before because when you buy them in a store they just say try them on to see how they fit. My last pair of sneakers i got online fit good and i found out they were WIDE sneakers or EE or 2E. So if anybody is buying sneakers online find out the correct width shoe you need to. I think it makes a big difference. When buying shoes at story nobody asks, what width size you wear anymore, they just say try them on and see how they feel.I started buying eye glasses online and found they sell them by width too, but at the store they sell them more by how they look because they may not have the correct width eye frames. Eye frames can be dent so easy, they can make them fit and make a sale instead of saying those are not wide enough. They say try them on and see how they feel, just like selling shoes.
