You know that childproofing your home is important to keeping your baby, toddler or preschooler safe, but most babyproofing products are virtually adult proof as well! It doesn't have to be that way! With Vanguard Safety Adjustable Cabinet Locks, you can keep little ones safe without all of the hassles and inconveniences that come with an ordinary cabinet lock!Instead of a clamp or a fastener, these cabinet locks use an adjusting strap to keep doors closed. Installing the child safety lock is quick and easy and requires no tools or drilling. Just peel the backing off to reveal the 3M self adhesive and press the cabinet lock onto the front of the door and the side of the cabinet or appliance. When you need to access what's inside, push the button to release. Then, snap the strap in place to secure the cabinet lock again. It couldn't be easier!Vanguard Safety Adjustable Cabinet Locks are the only child locks that you need for: • Cabinets & drawers • Toilets • Bins & trash cans • Washers & dryers • Windows • Anything else that you want to stay closed Unlike other cabinet locks that come on a basic card back, the Vanguard Safety Adjustable Cabinet Locks come in an attractive gift box, so they're perfect as baby shower gifts. ... bit over a year now and they have worked great so far
I've had these safety latches in use for a little bit over a year now and they have worked great so far. They are really easy to install and easy to use. Pros and cons based on my experience are listed below so you can make your own mind about it. As for me, I would definitely buy them again.Pros:- They are adjustable, just cut the plastic to the size you need.- Good for little kids to stay out of the cabinets. Even when I leave one open my daughter loves to walk by and close it herself (she is 20 months).- Very practical so when you only have one hand available, you still can open and close them easily.- Easy to use for everyone. They are super easy for grandma to use. I bought other latches for which you need to bend down and use two hands to unlock and they were hard on grandma's back. She is so happy that I switched to these ones.- Easy to install.- Can be installed in various surfaces. I used them for the toilets, dressers, and cabinets (see photos).- Can be removed without leaving any residue behind. To remove you can just use a hair dryer and something flat (I used a butter knife to avoid leaving marks). Make sure you use the hair dryer for enough time otherwise you will be left having to remove some sticky residue manually.- Can reuse since it comes with additional 3M tape. Plus you can just buy your own 3M tape if you run out. (this is also a con, see below)Cons:- One of the latches keeps falling of my cabinets (I bought more from a different vendor so I don't know if this is the one that falls or the other, but since I have about 20 latches in use, one not sticking is not a big deal)- The removing part can be tricky and tedious:(1) You have to use a hair dryer for about 4 to 5 minutes to remove each sticky side so about 8 to 10 minutes to remove just one latch.(2) Prior to removing you have to make sure the latches are closed, otherwise they will become unusable. I removed one while open and I couldn't close it again.(3) Once you remove them for the first time, the part where you adjust the length gets a little lose so it is easier to open. I am not sure when the kids will figure this out, but I am assuming once they are a little bigger they will and I may have to replace them for new ones.

Too complicated for small children yet easy enough for adults
Work well, our daughter is now 14 months old and can pull on the cabinets pretty hard but is unable to pull them open when they are locked with these safety locks--they even work on the refrigerator. She is, however, able to get a cabinet door or drawer open just enough that she can get a finger (or several) caught between the door or the drawer--she can get them back out on her own as well. The locks do not pull the door tight so there isn't any pressure put on her fingers--unless she leans on the door or drawer. I would still recommend these over many of the other products that I have tried in the past--many have the same issue. These are very easy to do with one hand (and very little practice) but way too complicated for my one-year old to figure out. My 6 year old can open them but at six she has a lot more coordination than any child under two. I would buy more of these right away if we needed more doors to be locked. I wish they were a little cheaper but then again I wish everything was a little cheaper. These are definitely worth a try.

Keeps the cabinets closed.
My wife asked me to purchase some kind of non-permanent safety locks so our son (2.5 years old) and our daughter (1.5 years old) would not be able to open the low-level kitchen cabinets and either damage things or hurt themselves. These locks definitely work well enough to keep our kids from opening the cabinet doors and the adhesive doesn't seem to harm the natural wood. We also put one on the refrigerator to keep our son from stealing the eggs inside like a fox and smashing them, like he has done so many times before. The locks work for their intended purpose and the length is adjustable. I took off a star from the rating only because the 3M adhesive was weak on one of the strips, but we did receive extra adhesives for future use. Another reason for only 4 stars is that it is a bit tricky to adjust the length once you click and lock the strip in place. This can be a bit frustrating to some parents, I assume. Otherwise, my wife and I are very happy with these locks and thrilled to see the sad little faces on our duo of mischief-makers as their attempts to gain entry into the kitchen cabinets are thwarted.

problematic design
the product is easy to be installed and easy to be used but there are two fundamental problems with the product:1) children can just pull the strap and end up falling on the ground hurting himself/herself;2) the adhesive is hard to come off. my children are now old enough so then I can pull these off but the latch sticks on. Making marks on my cabinet. I had to reface my entire cabinet to get rid of these ugly looking half broken latches/straps.BAD product. DO NOT recommend.
