Protection with some design flaws
I bought this case because I had picked up the borderline for my nexus 4 and the slimline for my nexus 7. I was really impressed that the company sent out updated models after getting customer feedback. I just hope they do that with this case as well.My first impression was that the case was as slim as I had hoped. The Nexus 5 seemed so slim I was almost willing to risk not going with a case but at this thickness with the case on it is still skinnier than the Nexus 4.My first problem is something another reviewer mentioned... though there is a lip on the back of the phone, it isn't quite enough to raise it above the metal lip around the camera lens. If the lip was a bit thicker I wouldn't be worried about whether the lens would get scratched over time. As it is, if you set the phone down on a table you can slide it around because the lens lifts up half the phone off the table instead of the rubber keeping it in place, and it slides a bit without a lot of effort.Speaking of the rubber... I have to wonder why the entire case is not made of that material. The black plastic is more slippery than the phone's matte plastic itself, and I almost feel like I am more likely to drop the phone with the case on.Finally, there is little or no button press feedback. I find myself having to check to see how far the volume slider has progressed or if the screen is actually off after I press the power button. This is a big step back from the nexus 4's case.As it is, I paid less than 5 dollars for it, and it seems like it could protect the phone from a drop, so I can't be too upset. I guess this is a result of all the case companies designing for a phone before it has even been announced.

Poetic Black/Gray Bumper Review
Just received my case from USPS, came earlier than expected (thanks seller and USPS),The case looks almost exactly like in the image while the phone obviously does not. The case is mostly plastic with a bit of a rubber edge on both the top and bottom. I bought the black/gray version.I have a White Nexus 5 and the case is easy for me to pop the phone into. It is snug enough that after dropping the phone in, there is no real give. It's not flimsy or floppy. The quality is pretty good considering what I paid for it :) There is a small lip so it has a lay on the table design, and it also has a bit of a lip on the back. This lip on the back is where I pulled a star. I was hoping to be able to drop my phone onto a flat surface without any issues, but unfortunately the lip is about a couple of mm's too thin. The camera housing is barely exposed. I have less risk of damaging the housing than before but I will have to try it out for a few days before I know for sure how best to put this on a table.Overall though, the case is snug, lightweight, incredibly low profile and does what I want it to do, except for the back being just a touch too thin. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a case while leaving the phone's aesthetics still visible, or someone just looking for a super thin case (which was what I wanted).

Streamlined case with protection where needed
I've tried both this case and the Google Nexus 5 Bumper Case and found this to be what I was looking for. The Nexus 5's principal area of weakness is the metal frame that circumscribes the screen. The rest of the case is plastic. Drops will dent the metal part and transmit the force to the screen. While the Google case protects the back as well, the button covers require a lot of force to operate and do not have any sort of positive feedback. The back of the case, which is flat, also eliminates the phone's curve, which is for me an ergonomic feature obscured by the Google case. The Poetic Bumper encases the metal surround and provides a lip over the screen, protecting it from drops and allowing the screen to be placed flat without surface contact. It is also just deeper than the camera lens, and so will lie flat when placed on its back. The button covers are also plastic, but of a thinner and more pliable material than the Google case. Positive feedback is limited, but less of an issue as the buttons are much easier to push. The Bumper does not substantially change the way the phone feels in the hand, which to me was an insurmountable issue with the Google case. Overall, I like this case quite a bit, and recommend it.

Adds almost no bulk
This is the perfect case for an office environment. The Nexus 5 is a nice thin phone and this is pretty much the only option I saw when shopping for a case that didn't add much thickness or bulk. This is a true bumper and only covers the edges of the phone, the entire back and camera lens is exposed.Pro:-The rubber lip around the screen edges protect that critical edge of the glass screen area from chipping or starting a crack. In my opinion is the most fragile part of a phone that is almost all screen like the Nexus 5 is.-Very light weight case, dramatically lighter than any TPU case.-When the phone is set face down the case will lift the screen slightly off the table when face down to avoid screen scratches.-Plastic sides won't catch in your pocket and make it hard to get out.Con:-When setting the phone down face up on a flat surface the camera lens edge WILL contact the desk or whatever you set it on. The phone is designed for this and the camera has a slight raised edge around the glass but if this bothers you this is not the case for you.-The buttons on the phone are covered by rubber which makes them hard to feel the "click" when depressed.
